Actors and actresses getting compensated fairly and equally for the work they do for cinema without any discrimination and prejudice has long been a raging topic in the industry, and Sophie Turner has also been a vocal activist for the same. On numerous occasions, she didn’t hesitate to speak up about the unfair and unjust measures prevailing in Hollywood’s entertainment industry.

But when it came to Kit Harington’s tremendous salary for theGame of Throneslive-action lore, in which he starred alongside her as the iconic Jon Snow, Turner wasn’t one to complain. However, just like her resourceful, honorable, and intelligent character Sansa Stark in the series, Turner being silent about this wasn’t without very good reasoning.

Irrespective of wherever her life landed her,Sophie Turnerhas always been a keen advocate for the things she believes in. Besides passionately lending her voice to the #MeToo movement among others, she has also been a fair supporter of equal wages being distributed among actors and actresses.

And yet, the actress didn’t always support these movements blindly. For instance, even though shedoesdemand equal pay for everyone, she doesn’t do so without considering the factors comprising the salary. Just like what she did with herGame of Thronesco-starKit Harington, who played her brother Jon Snow in the series.

Talking toHarper’s Bazaarabout the same, she confessed how she felt this equal pay aspect was“a little tricky”for these very reasons. Turner said:

Kit got more money than me, but he had a bigger storyline. And for the last series, he had something crazy like 70-night shoots, and I didn’t have that many. I was like, ‘You know what… you keep that money.’

For the record, these“night shoots”were seemingly the ones that the actor had to go through to get that final season’s battle episode right. That said, it sounds inevitable that Turner made peace with the fact that Harington was being paid an estimated $500,000 per episode, while she received only $175,000 per episode (as per the numbers listed byIndieWire).

In the meanwhile, there’s someone else who doesn’t even seem to have worked as hard as Harington and still received the same pay as him: Lena Headey.

Meanwhile, Lena Headey Earned More and Seemingly Worked Less

While Sophie Turner felt her and Kit Harington’s respective remunerations for their outstanding performances inGoTwere reasonable judging from the work they each had to do,Lena Headeyseemingly made more money for her work. What’s more, is that her work was significantly less and more enjoyable, as even the actress admitted herself.

According to reports fromCosmopolitan, Headey was in the same pay grade as the Jon Snow portrayer as she reportedly made a whopping $500,000 per episode by the later stages of the series. However, her work was considerably less, especially if compared to Harington’s or Turner’s.

As she explained on the Virgin Radio Breakfast show (viaThe Sun), Headey’s time on the show amounted to“only 15 days of work a year.”Out of this, a significant amount of time was spent inside, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, as she quite literally confessed:“I am always in Belfast in a room.”If that wasn’t enough, she even described her work as her character“just drink[ing] wine.”

Although it does seem rather unfair, Headey seemingly had to work less despite being paid huge sums of money. At the same time, this just may have had something to do with the financial struggles she faced following her messy divorce in 2013, when she reportedly claimed to have a“less than $5”bank balance, as perTMZ. That being considered, it may not have been that unfair after all.

Game of Thrones is currently available to be streamed on Hulu.
