Naughty Dog celebrated the 4th anniversary of The Last of Us Part 2.

The first game had a simple story and made the gaming community fall in love with the endearing characterizations of Joel and Ellie as they traverse a post-apocalyptic America. While the sequel was somewhat well-received, the director hints that there are more stories to tell.

In theGrounded 2documentary, Druckmann did the same and ended the film with some promising words. The gaming community needs to remember that the gap between Part 1 and Part 2 was 7 years and the wait was worth it from a technical standpoint, the gore and combat mechanicsin the sequel were phenomenal and the developers may want to continue elevating the experience.

The Last of Us Part 3 Is an Inevitability

Druckmann never gave any solid answers as to whether or not Naughty Dog will pursue a third game, perhaps the developers will explore and craft new worlds before dipping their toes in the franchise given the recent controversies whereSony tweaked his interview. The director is working on a new project that may not be related to an established series.

“Little details are so important…”: Bella Ramsey Comes Under Fire as Die Hard The Last of Us Fans Still Don’t Want to Accept Them as Ellie for Stupid Reason

It is also worth noting that the director is involved with the live-action adaptation series on HBO andthe story ofPart 2 could be covered across multiple seasons. Druckmann’s focus will be divided greatly on these projects.

Greatness is rarely seen nowadays and Druckmann could be playing it safe by not rushing to work on a third one immediately. Naughty Dog has spent years working on the franchise which kept the developers tied which is not ideal, perhaps the team can work on new ideas and take a reprieve from the pressure of working on a triple-A series.

The world is begging for more The Last of Us content.

Fans are optimistic another game will be released based on howPart 2ended. It is only a matter of time and all good things must end.
