If there’s one film thatJosh Brolinhas criticized relentlessly, it’s the 2010 movieJonah Hex.Based on the DC Comics character, Brolin took on the lead role in the film, which ended up being a critical and commercial failure.
And Brolin doesn’t argue against such reception, as he toldGQin an earlier interview,“I won’t ever stop stting on Jonah Hex… because it was a s*itty fking movie!”He attributed much of its shortcomings to the rushed decision to hire Jimmy Hayward as the film’s director.

In a 2023 interview withVariety, Broliin stated that Hayward lacked the necessary experience and dedication to direct the film.
I would imagine somebody would want to treat it — to run back to their house at the end of their every day and watch tonal inspirations and Scorsese movies or this or that. He would be out partying instead.

However, the actor has since reconnected with Hayward and has expressed regret over trashing the filmmaker. He revealed that the filmmaker apologized for the issues with the film and confided that he has been battling a severe form of bone cancer.

While his experience with his first and so far only DC character has been significantly unpleasant, there is a possibility that he could return to the DC Universe, as he has reportedly been offered the role of Hal Jordan in James Gunn’s DCU.
