Microsofthas revealed and launched a new variant of itsXboxWireless Controller, dubbed the Stellar Shift. This new version joins other Special Edition controllers with the iridescence effect like the previously released Lunar Shift and Aqua Shift.

Xbox surprised fans with the Stellar Shift controller announcementon its Twitter pageanda product pageon the Microsoft Store. “Experience the Xbox Wireless Controller – Stellar Shift Special Edition, featuring a color-shifting, blue-purple shimmer, and rubberized purple swirl grips that bring each controller to life,” the product page reads.

Xbox also announced that the new release shares some elements with the standard series, like the unique color-shifting effect that turns the controller purple or blue depending on the reflection angle. The front faceplate of the controller also has a sheen, while the grips sport a purple swirl that Xbox says is unique to each controller.

The shift controllers are inspired by various world and universe aspects. Microsoft describes the new Stellar controller as inducing the exciting feeling of deep space vibes, with the moon inspiring the Lunar controller and the deep sea playing a role in the creation of the Aqua model. Unique to this controller is the dynamic background that unlocks when you connect it to Xbox Series X|S consoles.

The Xbox Stellar Shift Wireless Controller is the latest edition in a line of mesmerizing peripherals since Microsoft launched theXbox Series X|Sera. Fans were also treated with the Elite Series 2 as a follow-up to the Xbox Elite Controller, but this latest edition is the fanciest and most affordable, with a retail price of less than $100. Microsoft also makes customized versions through the Xbox Design Lab, where you can apply features from the standard controllers and the Elite versions.
