Twisted Metal: 10 Best References To The Games
With 9 games to pull from, season 1 of Twisted Metal manages to give love to each entry in only 10 episodes.
Developed by Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions, Twisted Metal’s first season was released on Peacock, with all 10 episodes available on June 25, 2025. Before the year was over, a second season was greenlit.

The series is, of course, based on the vehicular combat franchise. While the series might be alive and well, the game series it’s based on is not. The last entry in the franchise was simply titled “Twisted Metal,” released on the PS3 in 2012. Developed by God of War creator David Jaffe’s now-defunct Eat Sleep Play studio, the game received mostly positive reviews, though it failed to sizzle the sales charts. The game’s servers were operational and only shut down six years ago.
