So, he decides to leave Bonnie’s house and join Bo Peep, who’s been living her life as a “lost toy.” This means Woody is no longer tied to a child, and he gets to explore the world as his own toy with freewill. Buzz, on the other hand, stays behind with Bonnie and continues living with her other toys, including Jessie, Rex, and the hilarious Forky.
But just when we thought the toys’ journey had come a gratifying end, Pixar announcedToy Story 5. At D23 2024, the story forToy Story 5was revealed. Andrew Stanton, the writer and director, shared that the movie will be about“toys battling electronics,”and even showed a picture of Bonnie under the covers with her tablet.

In a world that’s become more fixated with technology and detached from analog toys, how do our beloved characters stay relevant?
In a February 2023 interview withThe Wrap, Pete Docter, the executive producer ofToy Story 5and one of the creators of the originalToy Storyand its sequel, teased that the new movie will be full of surprises. He said:
It’s got some really cool stuff that you haven’t seen before.
Though we don’t know exactly how this new story will unravel, it’s safe to say that Pixar will find a way to make it both enkindling and exciting. After all, the studio is known for its ability to tackle big themes in ways that everyone can relate to.
Who’s in the cast ofToy Story 5?
Now let’s talk about the cast, because noToy Storymovie would be complete without the familiar voices we’ve come to know and love. The good news? Buzz Lightyear and Woody are definitely coming back.
Tim Allen will likely reprise his role as the iconic space ranger, Buzz, andTom Hankswill return as the lovable cowboy, Woody. These two characters have been the heart of the series since the very first movie, so it’s no wonder that they’re back for another round.
In addition to Buzz and Woody, we can expect to see plenty of other acquainted faces. Jessie, the feisty cowgirl, will be back, voiced once again by Joan Cusack. However, while we can expect these beloved characters to return, we don’t yet know for sure whether the original voice actors will be back to voice them. Pixar hasn’t made any official announcements about the cast, but we’re all crossing our fingers that they’ll reprise their roles.
