Helman Ghorst has been given his own factionCaravan of Blue RosesinTotal War: Warhammer 3and that comes with a lot of new shiny upgrades fitting for his specialty of raising the dead. He provides powerful global bonuses to Zombies that make your other armies just as effective as Ghorsts own army.

Ghorsts campaign is a slog of Zombie hordes that can heal all the damage dealt to them making the undead even harder to kill for good. Your early game rivals are cowardly rat-things, pox-ridden Nurgle, brutish Ogres, and filthy Greenskins. This guide will teach you how to level up Helman Ghorst most effectively to dominate your campaign.
Early Game
At the start of the campaign, your immediate rival is a Neutral Skaven faction you start at war with. They control the entire Flayed Rock province which will most likely be your first military goal. Next will most likely be eliminating Ku’gath the Plague Father’s factionPoxmakers of Nurgle. Use bats or summons to keep Ku’gath tied down as he is an artillery unit that can decimate your zombie blob. He needs to be defeated as a short campaign victory goal so taking him out early is most effective, and the province is an easy-to-defend peninsula. Your faction’s immunity to plague attrition helps win the endurance match that is fighting Nurgle. Ghorsts starting army has:
The most valuable unit is theMortis Enginewhich will give you a huge advantage against all your early-game rivals' equally expendable hordes. The damage they deal to units around them while they are in combat helps win the war of attrition against all your early and mid-game rivals. TheCorpse Cart (Unholy Loadstone)variant has a combat-boostingVigour Mortisaura as well as the regenerativeUnholy Lodestoneaura which will help boost your hordes.

Battlefield Strategy
The way you level up Ghorst relies on zombie stacking which requires a certain battlefield strategy to successfully pull off. These armies are very weak in auto-resolve so get used to fighting battles manually since you may easily win battles that the game says you will lose by blobbing your zombies up to get the most value out of your aura’s, and AOE health drains with the Mortis Engine.

Add aNecromancerto your army and use theirRaise Deadspell for more plentiful casts of cheap zombies that receive all your faction benefits.
Skills For The Early Game
Helman Ghorst faction bonuses all help him to castRaise Dead as a bound spell on Corpse Carts and Mortis Engineswhich will all be staple units in your armies as they greatly benefit your tar pits of flesh. The best skills to grab are in his unique tree which isn’t accessible until level 12. Until then, get the early-game necessities likeThe Restless Dead, and all three points inThe Unliving Hostto buff your zombies. Finishing Up
Finish the red skill line by putting three points inCarriages Of Deathto increase the defenses and speed of yourCorpse CartsandMortis Enginesto open upMagical Animusfor more area buffs for your undead masses. After that getLegions of the Deadto further buff your Zombies and make them more resistant to magic which is your biggest weakness and close out withUndeath Resurgencewhich is a better version ofMagical Animus. After that finish up the blue tree since the buffs fromUncanny Presenceare excellent campaign stats.
