In a marriage that lasted six years,Tom CruiseandKatie Holmeswelcomed a daughter,Suri Cruise, in 2006. However, the mere news of his wife’s pregnancy delighted theJack Reacherstar so much that he went all out and purchased a medical-grade ultrasound device for his personal use.
A BBC report from 2005detailed the transaction and listed it to be worth a whopping $200,000 back then. Unfortunately, the purchase not only came across as outlandish but also as a probable violation of the FDA’s regulations that monitor and prohibit such sales, despite not facing any charges.
In talks with the news outlet, the actor ensured that he would donate the machine to a hospital when he had done away with it, revealing that the couple then planned to take sonograms all by themselves. Moreover, he also highlighted that he would not disclose the gender of the baby and would simply use the machine for personal physical scans.
Fascinatingly, in response to the BBC reporter’s query on what exactly did he see when using the machine, Cruise replied with,“A little baby”.Yet that did not sit well with the medical community, who voiced their concerns over the risks associated with the unprofessional use of such equipment.

On July 21, 2025, when Suri Cruise cried for the first time out of her mother’s womb, there was no person happier than Tom Cruise. The Hollywood star had shown such enthusiasm during his wife’s pregnancy that the news of a newborn garnered worldwide attention and had the media ask him about the experience.Yet, all of it did not last long. Katie Holmes filed for divorce from the actor in a move he said he did not see coming.

In the years to follow, neither did the media report any sightings of the father-daughter duo, nor did the actor disclose any such interactions.As of now, Suri Cruise is eighteen years old and has opted for a very private life withlittle to no connectionsto the Hollywood mega-star.
