One of the most fascinating things about theclass selectionprocess inTitan Quest 2is that you can select not one, but 2 different classes tomix and matchand create a completely unique character.

At the moment of writing, there are4 distinct masteriesin the game, and when combined, they create a total of6 different classesthat function completely independently of one another.

Titan Quest 2 Shrine of Mastery

Of course, this complexity makes it even more difficult to choose your class, and once you do,you’re stuck with that decisionunless you want to start right from the beginning all over again.

In this guide,I will go over the different mastery options in Titan Quest 2and that make this system so interesting.

Titan Quest 2 Storm Mastery

The Four Masteries

As you progress through the prologue of Titan Quest 2, you’ll soon find yourself at a large glowing red altar, where you will get your first mastery option. The current choices are as follows:

You will have the option of picking up another mastery shortly after choosing the first. These decisions both happen during the prologue of the story, so if you want to redo your choice, it won’t take you too long to re-roll your character.

Titan Quest 2 Trick Shot

You also have access to Core - This isn’t exactly a mastery, but you may still put mastery points into Dodge, Barrier and Main Attacks. Every class has access to these, though they aren’t as crucial as your main mastery picks.

Mastery Points and Re-Speccing

Before we get into the Dual-Classes, we have to cover a bit of ground first.

Every time you level up, you will gain2 active points and 2 passive points. These points can be allocated to unlock access to new abilities and modifiers. you’re able to also earn more points by completingWorld Questsscattered around the game.

Active Points

The first 3 active points placed into any ability will gain you1 modifier slot per point, and after it will take2 points per slot. You can allocate a total of17 active pointsto any active ability to max out the modifier slots.

Modifiers change the way an active skill works, and you can haveup to 5 at a time. For example, picking thewhirlwindmodifier will change theSweeping Strikeskill into a channeled spinning ability, which persists as long as you hold down the action key.

You can add further modifiers likeRamp-Upto increase the damage the longer you perform the skill.Every skill has multiple modifiers, so one player’s Sweeping Strike may be different from another’s. Change up your modifiers depending on your playstyle.

If you find that you’ve messed up your selection, check out there-spec option in the bottom right of the screen. You can use the gold you’ve collected to reallocate your mastery points in any way you wish.

Passive Points

On the right side of the mastery screen, you will see all the passive points that you can use to buff your build. These passives will often give stat buffs like more damage and energy regeneration, which willalways be activeon your character.

Instead of Modifiers, passive skills haveFeats, which can be unlocked after putting a certain number of points into the skill. For example, withWeapon Proficiency, I get increased damage with weapon attacks and bonus attack speed when I increase it.

Upon hitting 6 points, I can choose a feat which can grant me more attack speed or something different, like critical strike chance. If I upgrade this even more to 12 points,I can choose a second feat.

Divinity Points

On the far left-hand side of the mastery screen, you will see the divinity bar. Putting divinity points into this bar will unlock more of the mastery skill options.

At first, you will only have access to the bottom layer of actives and passives. Upon allocating6 divinity pointsto this mastery, you will unlock the second tier of skills, and upon addinganother 12,you will unlock the third for a total of18 points.

Hitting level 22 will fully unlock all tiers of both masteries, but if you wish, you can keep levelling until level 40, the max level.

You can get more divinity points byabsorbing Titan Ichor, which you will find throughout the main story, and by levelling up.It’s important to note that these points are shared across your two masteries, so be careful how you spend them.

Similarly to the previous mastery points, these can also be changed by pressing the re-spec button and spending gold.

Available Dual-Classes

When you pick your second mastery, you will createa fusion of the two masteriesand thus gain a new title. These dual-classes have multiple builds within them, depending on the combinations of active and passive skills that you select. So go and experiment!

Stormblade

Stormblade is a combination of theStorm and RogueMasteries. You can lean more heavily into one mastery or the other for massively different builds.

For example, you’re able to use aTrick Shotbuild, which excels in building up doom stacks and proccing them all at once to deal a ridiculous amount of single-target damage. This build is particularly energy-hungry, so we use Storm passives likeArcane Influxto grant us more energy.

On the other hand, you may want to use your magical abilities instead. Try out aLightning SpearStormblade build that allows you to deal lots of lightning damage from a distance. Here, the Rogue passives will help scale your damage and critical hit chance.

Battlemage

Battlemage is the combination of theWarfare and EarthMasteries and is great for those who like to get up close and personal. Not only do you get access to a lot of great physical and fire-based abilities, but this build is also naturally tanky, which is great for newer players who are unfamiliar with ARPGs.

A great example of how to effectively fuse the masteries is with the massively powerfulFire-Whirlwindbuild. This build uses theSweeping Strike Whirlwindactive as the main source of damage.

You can use the Earth mastery to alter this ability and turn all of your physical damage into fire damage, with auras likeEarth EnchantmentandRing of Flame. When you stack these always active abilities on top of each other, you get a build that gets stronger as you keep spinning, with very little player input, save for dodging.

Ashstalker

The Ashstalker is a combination of theRogue and EarthMasteries. The classes complement each other quite well, as Rogue is known for being particularly squishy, while Earth gives it that well-needed boost to its defenses.

One of the best things about these masteries is their ability to inflictmultiple ailments at a time. you’re able to stack both poison and fire damage on your enemies to inflict a massive amount of passive damage over time.

It’s one of the few classes that can effectively wield bows, reducing your opponents' defenses from a distance and then rushing in to finish the job. Despite this, many of the good abilities are considered skill-shot abilities, likeTrick ShotandGrenade, requiring decent targeting from the player. This is perfect for experienced players, but not very beginner-friendly.

The Tempest class is a combination of theStorm and WarfareMasteries. This class is highly mobile and works well in both close quarters and from afar.

You can use a build which relies on your primary attacks to build uprageand thenBarrageto consume the stacks to deal massive lightning damage. The passives for both of these masteries are great forburst damage.

On the other hand, you could try an offshoot of theFire Whirlwindbuild that I previously mentioned, and instead use afrost-focused Whirlwindbuild that excels in outputting a tremendous amount of cold damage. This build might not output as much damage, but it has far greater energy regeneration, allowing for longer spins and greater sustain.

Elementalist

The Elemtalist is a combination of theStorm and Earthmasteries. This build is fantastic for those who prefer playing as a mage and striking from a distance with powerful elemental attacks. If you’ve seen any gameplay is Titan Quest 2 online, you’ve probably seen players using the ridiculously powerfulIce Shardbuild.

Ice Shard is one of the first skills you unlock in the Storm class and can be modified to be a homing ability. Combined with the fact that it hasno cooldown and a pretty insignificant energy cost, this skill can be spammed endlessly to defeat foes with very little player input.

Combining this withRing of Flame, weakening enemy defences, and strong passives likeGrand MagicandStorm Attunementmakes for an easy and extremely consistent build that any player can use proficiently.

Finally, we have the Reaver, which is a combination of theRogue and WarfareMasteries. This is a mainly physical build which can be really useful for building up ailments likePoison and Bleedquickly on your opponents.

However, this is another one of the builds that has more of a high skill ceiling, with skills that aren’t as easily spammable like the Elementalist, for example. Players can opt for a bow-focused build to build upbleed stacksfrom a distance, or a poison-focused build that builds upplague stacks.

Not only are these builds really energy-hungry, but you’ll find that you’re going to be pretty squishy throughout the campaign, also.

You don’t have the energy sustain from Storm, or the tankiness from Earth, so picking up something likeBattlefield Awarenessand focusing on your positioning is crucial when playing this class. However, in the right hands, the Reaver is a force to be reckoned with.
