With the overwhelmingly positive response that has come with the show’s first look, it seems that fans of the Dark Knight are really eating well this summer, as the show is looking to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in August 2024. With Bruce Timm at the helm of the project, who has delivered some of theCaped Crusader‘s greatest hits likeBatman: The Animated SeriesandBatman Beyond, fans are very excited to see what the show brings to the table.

The show has reinvented some of Batman’s classic villains

Given that the story is set in the 1940s, the show has taken a lot of inspiration from the media of the time. Be it films or comics, every character that is set to appear in the show has gotten a revamp that is more accurate to the period that the show is going to depict. According toBruce Timm, speaking withEW:

“James and I are both really big fans of movies from that era, so we decided to really lean into that in terms of the clothes, the cars, the architecture, and the level of technology. Early on, we decided there would be no computers and no cell phones. That changed everything.”

The show is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on 1st August 2024, which would serve as the second high-profile animated series that has come to the service this year, following behindInvincible. 2024, in general, has been a great year for animated superhero shows, withInvincibleandX-Men ’97receiving rave reviews, while shows likeMy Adventures with SupermanandBatman: Caped Crusaderreceive immense praise from fans ahead of their release.
