Kevin Feige and the Marvel franchise seem to have come under fire recently after one of its actors claimed to be homeless after suffering abuse from his family. Actor Jack Veal, who was featured inLoki, put out a series of videos where he claimed to have been abused and was possibly being screened for severe mental disorders.

While the actor gave an update saying that the overwhelming support from the fandom has led to social services contacting him, many questioned the lack of support from franchise head Kevin Feige. The Marvel Studios CEO did not comment on the situation, despite him being a part of the last great Disney+ show from the franchise.

LokiStar Who Claimed To Be Homeless Has Received Support

Marvel’sLokiisone of the best shows from the franchiseon Disney+. The Tom Hiddleston starrer received two seasons and introduced the TVA and the Kang storyline. Both seasons received positive reviews from critics and fans alike, with the season 2 finale being regarded as one of the finest moments in the franchise.

One of the actors in the series,Jack Veal, who played Kid Loki, a variant, recently went viral after posting a series of TikToks. He claimed in the videos that he was homeless and had suffered emotional and physical abuse from his family. The 17-year-old actor also mentioned that he was diagnosed with ADHD and autism and was being screened for bipolar disorder (viaTHR).

Veal reportedly did not ask for money from the viewers but instead asked them to put pressure on social services to consider his case after his chasing them around had not worked. It looks like the Marvel fandom came through as the actor gave a promising update recently. He said (viaDeadline),

I don’t know what you guys have done but it’s gotten out there and it’s really, really helped me. They’re taking action now. They’re actually doing something. So God bless you all. Thank you so much. This is the first time they’ve ever considered me for accommodation.

The actor, who also starred inThe Favouritementioned that social services had finally contacted him and were trying to put him in foster care.

Is Kevin Feige To Be Blamed For Not Helping Jack Veal At His Lowest?

While the Marvel fandom seems to have come through for their Kid Loki, any members of the cast ofLokihave yet to make a statement on the situation. In fact, since Jack Veal’s first series of videos went viral, fans have been urgingKevin Feigeand thefranchise to take actionor at least acknowledge their actor’s ordeal.

But is it Feige’s responsibility? On one hand, one can argue that Feige is nothing more than an employer and cannot do more than give the actor a role when the need arises. Jack Veal is not a huge character in the grand scheme of the MCU and only had a few appearances in the show, unlike an actor like Robert Downey Jr., who is reportedly getting paid $100 million for his return as Doctor Doom (viaVariety).

On the other hand, Feige may have some kind of responsibility in terms of taking care of its actors and other employees. If not monetarily, a recommendation from someone as high-profile as him could definitely boost Veal’s chances of getting good foster care. Fans seemed to be divided on the issue.

Meanwhile they’re paying Robert Downey Jr like a billion dollars and Marvel Disney themselves haven’t reached out to help him?

Actors are paid for their work on specific projects, not as ongoing employees. Expecting Marvel to financially support a former contractor misunderstands how the industry works. The focus should be on financial literacy and industry norms, not blaming companies post-contract.

That’s terrible, and@MarvelStudiosdidn’t check up on him? Especially coming from a popular series’s? Man, I hope he gets the help he needs

This is so sad and disheartening I hope someone helps him out I feel for him

Jack Veal is currently awaiting an update from the social services and with or without the help of the franchise head, seems to have got some momentum going on his case.
