The 2016 British comedy-drama is created and written by the talented screenwriter and actress. It is based on her 2013 one-woman show, which was first performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
The show features Waller-Bridge as the titular character, a laidback single woman living in London. The show itself is very unique since it includes some aspects of the actresses’ personal life, but fans were disappointed to learn that not all that is shown is true.

The comedy-drama showFleabag, showcases the tumultuous journey of the titular character, navigating life with her eccentric nature. The character and her experiences are inspired by some ofPhoebe Waller-Bridge’s own circumstances. The screenwriter has admitted that she incorporated her own quirks and details in the character to make it more relatable.

The show spent a great deal of time showing the character’s unstable love life, she went through multiple love interests and constant flings. Her role onscreen had a rocky romantic life, going on to fall in love with a Priest. This aspect of ‘forbidden’ romance led to her character finally ending up all by herself.
Actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge is married!
In 2014, the actress married Irish presenter and documentary filmmaker Conor Woodman. Although by 2017, they were separated and she entered into a relationship with playwright Martin McDonagh in early 2018. Still, the actress was married briefly during the shooting of the show, which lasted from 2016-2019.

Being the screenwriter of the show, Waller-Bridge took the liberty to add personal details into it. She added her brand of humor and phrases, this led to the misconception that the show is entirely based on her life. Sadly, this is untrue since the actress portrays a single woman with incompatible romantic relationships, though she herself was married at the time.
