S.I.U.’sTower of Godmight be a big name in the manhwa industry, but the series has not been living up to the expectations of anime fans. The series has two seasons as of yet, and both seasons have made their name in the community, but for the wrong seasons. While the first season still managed to earn some recognition, the recently released second season is being hated vigorously by fans.

Tower of Godfollows the story of Twenty-Fifth Baam, who lived under a tower alone for the longest time until he met Rachel. Rachel was Baam’s only friend, and she taught him everything about life, along with explaining to him her desire to climb the top of the tower. Their journey through the different levels of the tower to reach the top is the central narrative of the series.
Although the first season redeemed itself with a suspenseful ending where Rachel is seen betraying and almost killing Baam, the second season might not be able to do so. Anime fans feel thatTower of GodSeason 2 might have witnessed the biggest downfall in history, and the main reason for it is shifting from the original narrative.

Tower of GodSeason 2 Diverts From The Manhwa
Crunchyroll recently releasedTower of God: Part 2 – The Return of the Prince, and fans instantly regretted their decision to watch the series as it completely changed the narrative. The second season was supposed to follow the story of Baam and Rachel and focus on the betrayal and confrontation between the two.

However, the second season shifted the storyline to a new group of characters who were mostly unknown during the first season. Thus, the expectations of fans to find out more about Rachel and Baam were instantly destroyed. Although the second season features some characters from the first season, it doesn’t really make up for the revelation that fans were hoping for.
Secondly, questions were also raised about the animation quality and the portrayal of characters in the series. The plots are consistently diverted from the source material, and it affects the central storyline. Drifting from the plot can adversely affect the series, and there have been multiple examples of it,Henry Cavill’sThe Witcherbeing one of them.

Netflix’sThe WitcherTV Series did a great job with season 1 as it followed the original short stories from the first two books. However, as the narrative moved toward the second season, the creators of the seriesstarted knitting their own plotlinesthat were too far away from the original books. And sinceThe Witcher’soriginal story from the novels served as the primary lure for fans, this component of the series drew harsh criticism.
Fans Are Highly Disappointed ByTower of GodSeason 2
When the first season ofTower of Godended, anime fans believed that the second season would be the redeeming narrative of the series. Their hopes relied on the fact that the revelation about Baam and Rachel’s relationship and further development of the plot would make the series as intriguing and entertaining as the manhwa.
But the creators of the anime series have dug their own grave by taking on a completely different storyline. Plus, the animation style and the pace of the series have further degraded the overall performance of the second season.

Anime fans thus decided to express their disappointment when the eighth episode of the second season was released. While some criticized the story for drifting, others questioned the pace and the animation.
Without a doubt, there really is no excuse on what I just saw. But in comparison to the manwha, there was so much more potential/direction that could’ve been done.Unless the budget was poor to begin with, i can’t see how anyone would approve of this to be aired 😶

So unfortunate, disprecting the original source material, manwha/webtoon which is great.
I called it since the trailers, 1st season didnt have flashy animation ( still decent ) but had a creative style. at the moment they ditched that for generic isekai style and that the studio that was handling this had no prior experience with a serie, i knew it was done
It’s been really sad watching the adaptation this season, I think if an experienced studio were to pick it up it would do so much better. The story and universe is so rich that it’s unfortunate that the anime only fans get this treatment
I was so wrong about this anime, Must be cancelled permanently now.
There is little to no chance for the second season ofTower of Godto redeem itself as the story has gone quite far from the original material. It is highly unlikely that the second season will now bring back the story of Baam and Rachel as only a few episodes are left to release. Thus, fans will have to wait for the third season to find out about the two protagonists from the first season.
Tower of Godis available to watch on Crunchyroll.
