Thetrailergives us the general gist of what kind of story will unfold in the first season ofThe WitcherNetflix series. We also get a look of some of the bigger set-pieces which do look quite impressive. We also see fan-favorite characters, like Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri, and Dandelion, in action. And of course, Geralt’s trusty steed Roach closes out the trailer.
The Witcherwill star Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, and Freya Allan will star in this TV show adaptation of Sapkowski’s lauded fantasy novels as Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer, and Ciri respectively. While the video game franchise can be credited for popularizing Geralt’s monster-hunting adventures, the show will be more aligned with the books.
While the first season ofThe WitcherNetflix series has yet to air,a second season has already been greenlit. The showrunner, Lauren S. Hissrich, shared the news on Twitter last month saying, “I could not be more proud of what the amazing cast and crew ofThe Witcherhave accomplished, and can’t wait for the world to dig in and enjoy these stories with us.” Season two is expected to come to Netflix sometime in 2021.
Personally, I’m pretty excited forThe Witcher. While the first look of Henry Cavill as Geralt was a bit jarring, it does look good from the trailers shown so far. Hopefully, it can capture everything fans of the series would want from a Witcher television show.
The WitcherNetflix series will be available to stream in just one week, on December 20. If you want to acquaint yourself with its dark world, you can read the book or playThe Witcher 3: Wild Huntright now.
