Aside from the planets, alien creatures, and spaceships,The Outer Worldsis known for out-of-this-world weapons. With a large variety of grenade launchers, plasma swords, and flamethrowers, The Outer Worlds’ weapons are at their wildest when considering its one-of-a-kind Science Weapons.

These weapons seem anything but scientific as they range in all sorts of supernatural types and effects. Many of the Science Weapons can also fit into varyingRPG-class buildsnicely too. So, here’s a quick breakdown of each one and where to find them.
10Shrink Ray
Both the Shrink Ray and the Prismatic Hammer can be found by reading the captain’s notes on the Unreliable after being able to fly the ship. This will trigger the quest “Weapons From the Void,” which can lead to the first four Science Weapons on the map.
The Shrink Ray will shrink and damage enemies while firing a continuous beam of energy. Enemy proportions shrink down, and their voices get high-pitched, which is hilarious. Also, with a reduction in armor, this weapon makes tiny attackers more vulnerable to companion abilities.

9Prismatic Hammer
At its best with a high science build, the Prismatic Hammeris an upgradeto any melee build and can be found on the Groundbreaker any time after you leave Edgewater and can fly the Unreliable. Perhaps the best of the Science Weapons, you can find this hammer by making the second left when entering the Groundbreaker’s hub.
Jump up the boxes on the left side of the crew quarters, crouch through the hole, take out the criminals on the other side, and you’ll find the hammer behind a door close by. With enough points in Science, the Prismatic Hammer has two attacks possible: It can sweep and damage multiple enemies in an area, or it has a knockback effect.

8Mandibular Rearranger
Buy the “Hephaestus Mining - Archive Cartridge” from Gladys on the Groundbreaker to get the quest marked on your ship log. Then fly to Scylla, follow your quest marker, and you’ll find the Mandibular Rearranger in a building near an abandoned mining outpost. This Science Weapon is a good old-fashioned freeze rod.
You hit enemies with it enough times, they freeze. An increase in science will have the freezing effect last longer as well. This Science Weapon is great when used with a sneaky build, as you can freeze an enemy and then switch weapons to take them out quietly. It can also help with enemies that rush you for something like a sniper build too.

7Gloop Gun
In a different side quest from Monarch called “Errors Unseen,” you’ll be prompted to go to a UDL lab outside Stellar Bay. Make your way to the quest marker, and after fighting some marauders there, you’ll find the Gloop Gun tucked away behind a secure enclosure. Unless you have at least 55 hacking, you’re able to open the terminal lock by answering the questions with the most corporate-friendly answers to all three questions.

Once it’s in your hands, you’ll find the Gloop Gun deals shock damage to an area while making enemies float. It shoots a gloopy, messy substance that can damage multiple enemies. This is another Science Weapon that is complimented by your companions and should go well with most builds, regardless of focus on Science points.
6Mind Control Ray
The final entry in “Weapons From the Void,” the Mind Control Ray forces enemies to rise up against their comrades and fight on your side. To find this weapon, you’ll need to finish “Passage to Anywhere” and get a quest from Sublight Salvage & Shipping on the Groundbreaker called “Space-Crime Continuum.”
Eventually, the quest will lead you to Cascadia, and that’s where you’ll get the map marker for the Mind Control Ray. This weapon goes great with ranged weapon builds like snipers and long guns.

5Employee Benefits: Peril On Gorgon
Only found in the “Peril on Gorgon DLC,” this pistol Science Weapon can be acquired after finishing the quest “The Man in High Orbit.” You’ll meet Dr. Jasper Low, who will send you on some errands concerning his office.
With the option to finish the quests or take the weapon through more forceful means, the Employee Benefits pistol has a healing effect on whoever gets shot with it. This weapon is best used on your companions after sending them into battle. It’s a blast towatch one companiontank a whole batch of enemies while you laughingly heal them to full health.

4Special Delivery: Peril On Gorgon
In order to get the Special Delivery DLC-heavy-weapon, you’ll need to head to the southeast side of the map on Gorgon. In the only square building in the area, find the elevator with the red light. This will take you to a lower level.
Eliminate the enemies, including Charles from Accounting, who is holding the Special Delivery in his inventory. This very strong Science Weapon fires 6 homing rockets at once and is a great compliment to any Long Gun or Science-heavy builds.
3The P.E.T.: Peril On Gorgon
The P.E.T. is a 2-handed Science Weapon you’ll find in the Gorgon DLC. Dealing plasma damage with a chance to bleed, the P.E.T. is a strong melee weapon that pulls enemies toward you when you charge a power attack. If an enemy is pulled, they also get stunned for a short amount of time. This weapon is amazing for melee builds as it bridges the gap between you and enemies.

With some focus on Science points, the P.E.T. can take out most enemies in just a few swings. To find it, start with a quest called Dialogue Between Dead Men that has you collect 4 issues of “The Exhilarating Adventures of Archibald Excelsior” comic. After getting the Secret Society Hideout unlocked by answering questions based on the comics, you’ll find the P.E.T. lying on a table under a broken monitor in the back of the room.
2Spectrum Gatling: Murder On Eridanos
The Spectrum Gatling gun can be found on Eridanos after acquiring the 2nd DLC. After completing the quest line “At the End of the Spectrum,” you’ll have a marker to go to RR&DD Labs. This is where the Spectrum Gatling is held, but, like the Gloop Gun, it’s locked away behind a locked, purple enclosure. To power the weapon, you’ll have to get 8 Spectrum Vodkas by running over to Rizzo’s Distillation Station, where you may find one of each flavor.
After putting every flavor of vodka into the computer terminal, the Spectrum Gatling Science Weapon is ready to go. Probably the strongest machine gun in the game, the Spectrum Gatling gun fires increasingly faster rounds while staggering enemies and having a 40% crit chance. This gun can fit into almost any build because of its sheer firepower and speed.
1The Needler: Murder On Eridanos
This DLC Science Weapon shoots bullets that either poison, slow, or as corrosion, applies armor reduction randomly. Using normal ammo, The Needler converts each bullet into one of these effects so shooting a few rounds usually has an enemy feeling all three at once. Get The Needler by taking on the quest “Naked Hunch.”
This will have you finding the famous movie star Halcyon Helen, who is caught in a standoff with Administrator Ludovico. From here, you’re able to choose to side with Helen or the Administrator and kill the other NPC. If you side with Helen, you’ll need at least 40 points in Persuasion to get her to give you the weapon. Otherwise, you can side with the Administrator, kill Helen, and take The Needler off her corpse.
