FRIENDSis not a perfect sitcom in any way. There is no denying that the series had one of the biggest influences on the comedy genre as a whole and has remained timeless in every way possible. However, there have also been more than a few low points throughout the series’ ten-season run.

Although even die-hard fans would have many picks of bad episodes from the series, there is one that is collectively disliked by fans all over the world. Not only was the episode disappointing for audiences, but it also ended up being one of the most infuriatingly boring episodes in the show’s run.
The Lowest Point ofFRIENDS
The fourth season ofFRIENDSwas one of the highest points in its cultural significance. Fans from all over the world were hooked on the series, which managed to actually enter the friend circles of the masses. There were many memorable moments from this season, ranging from Emily’s catastrophes to Rachel being the pursuer instead of someone pursuing her.
However, there was one point in the series where the show ended up losing its viewers’ attention. The twenty-first episode of the season, titledThe One With The Invitation, is one of the most disliked episodes of the series among fans. The episode follows Ross and Emily as they send out invitations for their wedding, while audiences get to see clips from significant moments from the series.

“It works better than my last marriage”: Kraven Star Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s 57-Year Old Wife Said Her Marriage Is Better as It Outlasted Her Friends
Although there are many reasons why the episode was severely hated, it would seem that fan disapproval wasn’t the only thing that labeled it the worst episode of the series. According toIMDb, the episode is the lowest-rated episode from the series, with a 7.0 rating.
Now that it has been established that the episode is the worst from the series, one cannot help but wonder why audiences have such strong opinions towards it.

Invitations and Unnecessary Storylines
One of the main conflicts ofThe One With The InvitationfromFRIENDSis Ross trying to figure out if he should invite Rachel to his wedding. Considering their history as well as her tension with Emily, he was very conflicted about whether it would be right for her to be present at his wedding.
While he pondered this question, Ross took a trip down memory lane, and the episode showcased clips from past episodes. Although a few flashbacks could have been fine, the episode ended up filling most of its runtime with moments that fans had already seen only a few seasons ago.

“Sharon Stone was my boss”: Sam Raimi is Not Disloyal to His Friends and Fans Are Trying Their Best to Prove It After Stone’s Accusations
Although the effect that such an approach was supposed to have was one of nostalgia and a look back at what they were, it almost felt like a cheap trick to many. Since the series was at its peak at the time, such an approach almost seemed like a decline in quality.
What made this approach all the more frustrating in future seasons was that the series made other episodes in a similar format that ended up being just as disliked by fans. While there is no denying that fans love the moments that were showcased, these clips end up taking over the episode, when they could simply rewatch those episodes and feel a bigger impact.

FRIENDSis available for streaming on Netflix.
