Licensed Lego games from developer Traveller’s Tales all started with theLego Star Warsgames, and according to some rumors coming out of the Star Wars Celebration Convention, fans may get a sort of “ultimate collection” sometime soon. A slip of the tongue from General Grievous voice actor and Skywalker Sound editor Matthew Wood, along with sources forEurogamer, indicate that a new game is indeed in development.It is probably safe to assume that everyone with an internet connection and a taste for modern popular culture has seen the teaser for the nextStar Warsmovie, titledThe Rise of Skywalker. The teaser featured Rey basicallyfighting a spaceshipon a desert, so now I expect to see this scene in Lego form. With this film releasing in theaters this Christmas season, it wouldn’t be far off to expect a new game to tie in. The last game in the series to release wasLego Star Wars: The Force Awakens.That video game depicted not only the 2015 film but also events that occurred betweenReturn of the JediandThe Force Awakens—sincethe release of that game,Star Wars: The Last Jedi, a movie that has inspired heated passions for one reason or another, also released. With the prequel and original trilogies forming a Lego game each, intuition may point to a sequel trilogy game.But in reporting Wood’s slip of a newLego Star Warsgame, which came as he namedropped all of the upcoming Star Wars media coming up soon, Eurogamer added that this next game is an “ambitious project.” While this next game will undoubtedly contain content inspired byThe Last JediandThe Rise of Skywalker, it is also rumored to carry the entire saga.And there is certainly precedent for this—after the first two games contained the prequel and original trilogies each, a new release appropriately titledThe Complete Sagacombined both of those games. Add the sequels, and you get the most complete-est saga one could have. There was even athird numbered title in theLego Star Warsseries, based on the popularThe Clone Warsanimated series that is making a return.WithStar Wars Celebrationall wrapped up as of today without an official confirmation on the game, and allfocus onJedi: Fallen Order, we’ll have to wait a little longer for any further information.
