Yesterday at the long-awaited Nintendo Direct livestream,The Legend of Zelda: Skyward SwordHD was announced during their 50-minute long event.Skyward SwordHD sees the classic with updated graphics that first appeared in 2011 on the Wii. As well as the game announcement ofSkyward Sword, we also got to see some wonderful limited editionZeldaJoy-Cons with the right Joy-Con taking inspiration from the Master Sword and the left showcasing the Hylian Shield. Both the game and Joy-cons areavailable to preorderon the eshop but since you can’t get your hands on them until July 16th, how about Penny Arcade’sThe Legend of Zelda: Skyward Swordcomic to tie you over?
Penny Arcadeis a webcomic focused on video games and video game culture that started all the way back in 1998. The site’s comics are written by Jerry Holkins and illustrated by Mike Krahulik. Under the banner of “Penny Arcade Presents”, Krahulik and Holkins joined up to create an official artwork/comic strip entitled ‘The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword’. After Krahulik submitted his artwork to Nintendo, the company liked what they saw and gave him the go-ahead to launch it as an official comic which incorporated Krahulik’s signature style and Skyward Sword’s design.

Over on Twitter, Jonathan “Gabe” Gabriel, the protagonist of Penny Arcade and the comic alter ego of Mike Krahulik, briefly touched upon theSkyward Swordcomic and also how he is still “super proud of it” and that he’s also looking forward to playingThe Legend of Zelda: Skyward SwordHD on the switch.
