The heavily rumoured remake of Naughty Dog’sThe Last of Uscould soon be announced as a credible industry insider believes a release window of Holiday 2022 is likely.

Although the originalLast of Usisn’t even 10 years old yet, Naughty Dog is reportedly nearing the end of development on a remake. Not to be confused with the previously remastered version, which launched in 2014 for the PlayStation 4.

Fans are also patiently waiting for news ofThe Last of Us: Part IIMultiplayer after a leaker revealed that it was initially designed as a Battle Royale mode. The mode was then scrapped before being completely rebooted, according to an insider. But the only official confirmation we’ve had from Naughty Dog comes in the form of ablog post, in which they state that they are “working on it”.

It looks as though it could be all hands on deck at Naughty Dog, with the team rumoured to not only be hard at work on a Multiplayer mode forThe Last of Us: Part II, but a complete remake of the original game too.

The Last of Us Remake Could Release This Holiday Season

The news comes from industry insider and journalist, Jeff Grubb, who recently appeared on the Kinda Funny Games podcast. During the hour-long discussion, the topic ofThe Last of Us Remakewas brought up, to which Grubb reiterated that it’s likely set to release during the Holiday period. Grubb said, “this holiday is what I keep hearing, I’m pretty confident about that too”.

With the likes ofHogwarts Legacy,God of War: Ragnarok,Stray, and more still set to launch by the end of this year, it could be an expensive year for PlayStation fans.

Plus, that’s not all fans have to look forward to when it comes toThe Last of Us. HBO is currently hard at work on the production of a TV adaptation starring Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, and Nick Offerman. As well as a possible Multiplayer mode forThe Last of Us: Part II.

Of course, we recommend taking this with a grain of salt, as Naughty Dog are still yet to confirm that a remake even exists.
