Netflix’sOne Piecehas rolled out several cast announcements, from revealing our Nico Robin, played by Lera Abova, to Nefertari Vivi, played by Charithra Chandran. Almost the entire cast for the Baroque Works has been revealed, with a few exceptions. One agent, Mr. 3, will be played by David Dastmalchian. The actor has had a long list of amazing roles, from the enigmatic to the superhero genre. Dastmalchian is the perfect choice for Mr. 3, also known as “Loan Shark” Galdino, who holds the Doru Doru no Mi.

Mr. 3 is an odd character with an interesting Devil Fruit that manipulates wax. His character flips from being the main antagonist of the Little Garden Arc to one of Luffy’s main allies in the Impel Down and Marineford Arc. His mannerisms and visual style are very hard to pull off in live-action but if anybody can nail it, it’s David Dastmalchian. One Piece’sseason 2 is certainly worth all the hype it’s getting.
Dastmalchian Comments on His Unique Role inOne Piece
Like mostOne Piecevillains, they aren’t always evil. Mr. 3 is one of the best examples of it. “Loan Shark” Galdino is a mysterious figure with a highly artistic side and a visually weird Devil Fruit ability that he knows how to use with precise skill. From his hairstyle to his mannerisms, he’s a very unique character.David Dastmalchian speaks about this opportunity with Nerdist, and how much he respects the live-actionOne Piece:
I mean, he’s so unique and such a fantastically interesting odd character. So, the idea of getting to be a part of what is already an amazing ensemble is incredible—I think that season one was just so great. And I think that what I want to bring to him is finding the David that lives inside of Galino. I want to find the David that is, I mean, he was just an office worker at Baroque Works, and now he’s this really cool, weird, often seen-as-bad guy character whose alliances can kind of shift around just like so many of the characters in One Piece. And I’m excited to see what they want to do because they’ve done such an exceptional job making the anime and the manga into a live-action world.
