Marvel Studios made some significant changes to the stories of a slew of heroes in their roster to translate them to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Be it origin stories or team rosters, there have been a lot of wild changes in the comics, such as Janet Van Dyne and Hank Pym not being founding members of the Avengers.
While the MCU has not been a saint to Hank Pym, the comics have not done the first Ant-Man any great service either. The character has had a slew of bad choices attributed to him, from the creation of Ultron to beating his wife on panel. This has led to the character, even in modern Marvel comics, almost never catching a break.

Hank Pym, Ant-Man, Yellowjacket, Giant Man: the character has been a mainstay of Marvel Comics since its earliest days, being conceived by the brilliant comic duo: Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. A founding member of the Avengers, along with The Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, and The Wasp, the character has since fallen from grace thanks to the numerous character choices made on his part.

A brilliant scientist on par with the likes of Tony Stark, Reed Richards, and Amadeus Cho, the character has been pretty mistreated in comics. To begin with, the personality of the character was completely altered to be more cocky, which did not last very long.
He became increasingly hostile to his wife, Janet Van Dyne, and also was disgraced into a court marshal by Captain America after he failed to stop fighting a villain who had already surrendered. Further, he is expelled from the Avengers permanently and Janet divorces him.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe made some changes to the stories of multiple characters, and this specifically took Hank Pym out of the running for any Avengers-related action.
If the rumors are true, andSecret Warsis indeed a soft reboot of the franchise, a younger actor could take up the role of Hank Pym and be the Ant-Man of the MCU going forward. This is not to say that Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang is not a great character, but with the likes of Reed Richards probably becoming a part of the MCU, there need to be smart characters that can challenge him properly.
Further, the X-Men will be making their way to the MCU as well, so it would not hurt Kevin Feige to make some changes in the MCU and make it resemble the Marvel Universe of the comics. After all, he is insistent on calling the MCU Universe 616, despite how much fans andIman Vellaniprotest.
