Microsoft’s Xbox has long been on the losing side of the Console Wars. With Sony’s PlayStation 5, Xbox got pushed out of the race even more. Microsoft had banked on the new console to regain some ground in the fight. But if responses to the leaked images of the new console are any indicators, times are indeed dire for the console-manufacturing company.

After going viral on Twitter, a post with a supposed new design quickly garnered over 796k views and went viral with many fans taking to the comments to express their feeling regarding the newest console from Xbox.

Much had been riding on the Xbox Series X by Microsoft as 2024 saw PlayStation trump its rivals by leaps and bounds asXbox decided to go multi-platform. This sparked tons of rumors regarding Xbox’s stance on releasing new consoles. But the new leaks suggest that Xbox Series X is well on its way.

The most notable part about the alleged leaked pictures of the consoles is the total absence of the disc tray which had been a mainstay in almost all consoles for the better part of three decades. One fan rightly pointed out how this marks a shift to a disc-less future saying, “Sad that we have moved into a disc-less generation“. Another fan commented, “And just like that. Physical Games = gone“.

Fans took to the comment section of @Dexerto’s post to air their opinions regarding the new model. One fan probably took the crown with their short and apt comment, “That’s my mini fridge“. And this fan was joined by others who critiqued the choice of the shape of the new console.
One fan suggested that the developers should cut the size in half and make it like a cube. Yet another fan felt like the new console was a tank. Some others questioned the authenticity of the post with one saying, “Fake. That’s a prototype dev kit image.“

When Can We Expect Updates of Xbox Series X?
Fans are getting wary of receiving updates through leaks, which most of the time cannot be trusted. So, fans have been holding their breath for news and updates from Microsoft regarding the upcoming console for quite some time but to no avail.
As of the time of writing this article, we can only be sure that a refreshed version of Xbox Series X, codenamed ‘Brooklin’, is supposed to be released sometime this year. The exact time of the release is still unknown.
