A Dev Drop has revealed the Set 8 theme and the 2023 Roadmap forTeamfight Tactics. The Roadmap shows fans what updates to expect from the Teamfight Tactics development team throughout the next year, including the new set coming this winter.Since its release in 2019 as aLeague of Legendsauto chess, Teamfight Tactics has amassed millions of players worldwide. Teamfight Tactics' mobile launch in 2020 only brought the game to more players, and its increasing popularity has been a driving force in frequent improvements to the game. Gameplay Director Riot Mort has revealed the theme will be Monsters Attack. The new set will feature a mechanic called Augments, which was first introduced in Set 6: Gizmos & Gadgets and continued in Set 7:Dragonlands. After polling players and running internal tests, the development team decided to make Augments an evergreen mechanic. In Monsters Attack, unique Hero Augments will be introduced and function to buff a single unit. While familiar traits like Mech andStar Guardianwill make a return, new traits called Threat, Anima Squad, Underground, Ox Force, and A.D.M.I.N. will challenge gamers to build creative comps.

Teamfight Tactics' developers also gave gamers a glimpse at a number of cosmetic updates, including new Arenas, chibis, and Little Legends. A Mythic Arena titled “Everything Goes On,” named after the Porter Robinson song, is Star Guardian-themed and features easter eggs from the lore. There will also be Star Guardian and base chibis for Ahri and Lux. The development team will add several new Little Legends, including Grizzle and Whisker. In early 2023, an event and limited-time game mode will be launched.

The Dev Drop concluded with the 2023 Roadmap, which illustrates the Teamfight Tactics updates from Winter 2022 to Winter 2023. Aside from Set 8 coming in early December and a new game mode shortly after the new year, players can expect a Mid-Set update in March and a new set in the summer. In June 2023, Teamfight Tactics will celebrate its four-year anniversary.
