Mecha and romance are the two most opposite genres in the anime industry, and there are very few series that have managed to do justice to this weird combination. One such series that lived up to the expectations of fans to a certain extent wasDarling in the Franxx. It was a combined project of A-1 Pictures and Trigger, and it was quite popular when it started.

The series was first announced at Trigger’s Anime Expo 2017 panel in July 2017. It was written and directed by Atsushi Nishigori and Naotaka Hayashi and was one of the prominent series back in 2017. And while the story of the series was quite intriguing, it got ruined in the end according to many fans. Evidently, the anime fumbled the conclusion, which led to the criticism of the series as a whole.
The series could have been one of the greatest projects considering the combination of mecha and romance, but disrupting the ending made it look back for the entire anime. Many believe that it was one of the reasons why it never got renewed for a second season or a spin-off.

However, among the artificially created child pilots, a squad of ten pilots aims to become human and find out more about their origin and the world they live in.
