Hobyrim is also one of the game’s fastest and most effective melee fighters. In this guide, we’ll tell you how to recruit this strong character no matterwhat pathyour playthrough has taken.
Chaos Route
On the Chaos Route, you encounter Hobyrim in theBahanna Highlands in Chapter 3after you have taken Brigantys Castle. You must keep him alive in battle anddefeat the enemy leader Modiliani. He will then offer to join your party.
Lawful Route
On the Law route, you will encounter Hobyrim atThe Arkhiaopolis of Rhime in Chapter 3. You must fight a battle here in which you need tokeep him alive and defeat the enemy leader Ozma.If you succeed, he will offer to join your team.

Neutral Route
To make matters more complex, there aretwo different ways to recruit Hobyrim on the Neutral Route. After the battle with Ganpp early in Chapter 3, you will hear that there are prisoners being held atQadriga Fortress. Go here and complete the battle, and you will get a cutscene with Hobyrim afterward, in which he will offer to join.
If youdo notundertake the Qadriga battle, you will have another chance to recruit Hobyrim after you defeat Nybeth at Ndamsa Fortress later in the Chapter.Head to Almorica Castlefor another cutscene, and abattle at Golyat will now open. You mustkeep Hobyrim alive in this battle while defeating the enemy leader Orgeau.
The Swordmaster
Hobyrim will join as his Swordmaster Class, with a high rank in the 2-handed Katanas Skill. He is an extremely fast attacker with sky-high Dexterity and will excel in any melee class you choose to use, but his iconic Swordmaster class suits him very well, and he can be a versatile buffer and attacker for your team.
