Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguehasn’t had the best reception ever since the announcement and has been surrounded by controversy over its live-service status, battle pass, and much more. The game is currently in early access for players with the Deluxe Edition and officially launches on Friday, July 23, 2025, for other players.
While the game has been a hot point of debate and discussion for various issues, Rocksteady has once again proved that it truly understands the source and how to be faithful to it. Players have come across several things in the game that prove Rocksteady’s effective understanding of the source material, just like it did with theBatman: Arkhamfranchise.
Rocksteady Maintains Its Reputation of Faithfully Adapting Source Material With Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
Rocksteady has always been spot on with the adaptation of DC source material for theBatman: Arkhamgames, and it has done the same withSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Although not much is known about the in-game content since the game is still in early access, there are some things that players have reported that make one optimistic about it.
Kill the Justice Leaguetakes place in the open world of Metropolis and allows players to wander around the city. However, just like other open-world games, the game also has a boundary that does not allow players to go outside. Players who have been playing haverevealedthat when they attempt to go too far from the objective, they are punished in the trueSuicide Squadway.
When players try to leave the mission area, the game will bring up a countdown and warn players in the voice of Amanda Waller, the ARGUS agent, to go back to the missions. But that’s not all. If players do not get back in the given time, the neck bombs will be triggered, and Waller will activate them, resulting in the head and body being explored. This is exactly how it is in the comics, as the Suicide Squad members have neck bombs implanted to keep them in line until the business is done.
Character Representation Is Also Accurate in the Game
Rocksteady Studios has also kept the representation of the characters in the game faithful to the lore, with each character having their own unique abilities as in the comics. The characters also have their own unique weapons, such as Harley Quinn wielding her signature baseball bat, which she can also use in the game for grappling and swinging around.
Regardless of what previous reports said, Captain Boomerang also makes heavy use of boomerangs, as it should have been, and the boomerang hits are the main melee attack of the character, which makes the game more immersive and is also connected to the lore. King Shark wields his shark teeth but does not use them much. However, his power and build come in handy when he leaps on to take care of any enemy in his way.
The fourth playable character in the game, Deadshot, is also represented, just like he is in the comics, as a superior marksman and sniper. The character has always been treated as a firearms expert, and Rocksteady has nailed his character as well. Moreover, the story beats inSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueare also accurate as per DC lore.
The game features an original story in the DC universe, with Task Force X going against the Justice League. The story shows the Squad members’ perspective against the Justice League superheroes.
