The live-action remake ofLilo and Stitchis coming straight to Disney+ this summer, bringing a new and fresh take on the beloved characters that shaped everyone’s childhood. The film is based on the 2002 animated movie of the same title and follows the titular young girl whose life changed after meeting a dog-like alien.
Dean Fleischer Camp will helm the remake from the script of Chris Kekaniokalani Bright. Maia Kealoha will star as Lilo whileLilo and Stitchcreator Chris Sanders will lend his voice to Stitch. Zach Galifianakis, Sydney Agudong, Courtney B. Vance, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, and Kaipo Dudoit also joined the cast.

Creator Chris Sanders On The Upcoming Live-Action Remake OfLilo and Stitch
Lilo and StitchcreatorChris Sanderspreviously spoke withSYFY WIREto react to the upcoming remake. He reveals feeling very curious as to how his animated creation will fare as a live-action. Sanders also noted how important it is to pay attention to the details.
“I think the most obvious thing is Stitch has to be Stitch, visually [speaking]. Details count, so I’d be very curious how they handle Stitch’s textures. If he’s not the same shape, he’s not the same character. Staying true to his appearance will be critical.”
Watching Stitch as an animated character does not feel strange at all, but bringing him into the real world is something that definitely intrigues the creator as much as the fans.
“The proportions of Stitch in that world are easier to swallow because everything is hand drawn. When you go into a live-action realm, it’ll be interesting to see what happens with that.”

Sanders will reprise his role as the voice of Stitch, which he is very much willing to do in a heartbeat. While he thinks there are other actors who can try to voice the character, he does not see the reason why he should not do it himself.
“I’m very lucky in that I am able to maintain a connection to him, which is very important. He’s a creature that I invented. [To say] he’s very personal to me is an understatement. He is me and I am him. His personality is my personality. I built him to be that way. His chaotic neutral personality is mine. He’s very near and dear to me, and he always will be.”
Despite the many delays due to the strike and the controversy surrounding the cast members,Lilo and Stitchis still a go.

A first look at the live-action remake taken by a fan spread online, and the public expressed amazement at how good Stitch looks.
