Actor Stephen Amell is best known for portraying Oliver Queen / Green Arrow in The CW superhero drama seriesArrow. However, Amell’s tenure as the character coincided with Zack Snyder’s take on theJustice Leaguein the DCEU. During an interview, Amell was asked about the film side of the DC Universe that Snyder was developing. However, Amell felt that the films received more attention despite both franchises being on practically the same level in one key department. During an appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2014, Amell discussed the expansion ofArrowand the creation of a shared universe through the series. In a conversation withTV for the Rest of Us, Amell opined that the DC film and TV universe were on the same level.

I would put our degree of difficulty, producing 23 episodes of television every year, spinning off the show, giving people the confidence to green light other DC properties, there’s 5 DC properties on television now.
Amell made the above statement, revealing that the frequent questions he was asked about the then-upcomingJustice Leaguemovie by Zack Snyder and its impact on the TV universe, undersold the importance of the latter.

Furthermore, Amell added that he felt making a TV show on a network schedule was equally difficult as making a $250 million superhero blockbuster film. Given how popular theArrowverseproved and the lackluster reception of most DCEU films, Amell’s point regarding the degree of difficulty in producing a shared superhero universe makes sense.

During an interview withEntertainment Weekly, Amell discussed his role as Ted Black in the upcoming spin-off series. The actor teased what fans can expect from his lawyer character in the series, stating the following:

He is struggling as a leader. Sometimes he can get so driven and so focused on what’s in front of him or the next battle to win that he loses sight of his relationships with the people closest to him, and that’s what really manifests in the pilot.
Amell also teased that Black’s relationship with the two people he is closest to within his firm will be drastically altered as the story progresses. As a result, Amell’s character is likely to undergo major changes in the series.

Furthermore, Amell also revealed that being on NBC meant that the series had to use fewer cuss words compared to the original series. However, the actor also admitted that most of the cussing was reserved for his character, hinting at what fans can expect from Black’s personality.
