After being beta tested for 10 days,Bethesdahas finally releasedStarfield’s latest update for Steam and Xbox Series X|S. Update 1.8.88, which only includes a mere three bug fixes, frustrated the community for various reasons when it was first released in beta last week. But now fans have become even more irate after the full release of the update doesn’t even rectify one of the three issues.
According to thepatch notes, the latest Starfield update has “addressed an issue that would cause space matter to become stuck to the player’s ship during space travel. Loading a save will now remove the space clingon.” Although Bethesda did note that this fix will not remedy the issue causing certain players to have the whole of New Atlantis attached to their ship (yes, we’re serious), players are now noticing that the fix hasn’t even rectified the intended issue.

Starfield Fans Displeased As Paid Mods Becomes Increasingly Likely
Starfield fans believe paid mods are on the horizon after the introduction of Skyrim’s new ‘Bethesda Game Studios Creations’.
According to various users on Reddit (credit toJ2MRaiden,LonelyDShadow, andCaptainSlow31), Starfield’s ‘pet rocks’, as the community has coined it, are still very much present and attached to player’s ships. Others even responded in the comments by saying they’ve had a pet rock for “like 100 hours” and they’ve given up trying to get rid of it.

Starfield’s Latest Update Fixes A Whole Lot Of Nothing
Bethesda’s failure to fix one of the three bugs included in the latest update is just one of the many reasons why fans are rightly frustrated. To put it bluntly, the update simply doesn’t compare to many other triple-a games. In fact, the update is borderline embarrassing when compared toBaldur’s Gate 3’s latest update, which was a whopping 30GB and included a massive list of new content, fixes, improvements, and so much more.
Starfield’s latest update, on the other hand, included the following fixes:

What is even more frustrating about this update is that Bethesda seems to be dead set on fixing harmless exploits, such as the weapon case exploit mentioned above, for a single-player game, whilst actual bugs and glitches still seem to be running rampant. One user over on Redditis experiencing such a severe bug, they can’t even complete the game.
Despite the rather lackluster updates, Xbox head Phil Spencer believes there’s no reason Starfield won’t be played for “many, many years.” The game does, however, seem to have less players than Bethesda’s previous titles, Skyrim and Fallout 4.
