With so many items to collect and sell inStarfield, cargo capacity can be one of the most important things in the entire game. Whether it’s your character’s carry capacity or your ship’s cargo hold, leveling up and upgrading the two allows you to store much more cargo.
But what happens when you’re out of skill points and out of cash for upgrades? Where are you supposed to store all of that precious, precious cargo to sell later on? Well, one player has realized that there’s actually a pretty simple yet effective way to store all of that extra cargo…just throw it on the floor of your ship, it ain’t going nowhere!

Reddit userFoslforevertook to the Starfield subreddit earlier this week to call out the “know-it-all” who said they would lose their cargo if they just dumped it on the floor of their ship. It turns out, you can actually just leave your excess items lying around and they won’t go anywhere, as long as you don’t upgrade or edit your ship, that is.
In the image, which can be seen in the post above, the player shows off all of their hoarded cargo jam-packed into their ship. It’s certainly not the most ideal way to store things when you run out of cargo, but it’s not stupid if it actually works.
Oneuserwas quick to question whether or not this was actually an ingenious way to smuggle contraband goods, as the items aren’t technically in your inventory. However, another respondedby saying that the trick sadly doesn’t work.
There are plenty of other handy tricks in Starfield though. Since the game’s launch early last month, players have already discovered ingenious ways toskip the annoying vendor wait times, an unknown control rebind that allows theplayer to boost horizontally instead of vertically, and much more.
