If you askStar Citizenminers about Quantainium, it is something that they all are looking for every day. After all, this orange-ish metal is the most valuable mineral in Star Citizen, and refining it will give you quite an expensive cargo.

So, if you are not interested in raiding bunkers or hunting bounties in the verse, mining Quantainium will be one of the best combat-free choices to become a wealthy citizen. However, the main problem is how to find it in a universe as big as Stanton.
Where To Mine Quantainium
Quantainium can be found in multiple locations around the verse, especially the asteroid fields like ARC-L2 or others. But one of the locations we are 100% sure you may find Quantainium isLyria, the moon of ArcCorp.
First, let’s get this straight: there isn’t any certain location or dot-ping to tell you where to pick up Quantainium on Lyria, but we can help you with a few tricks and hints to get you closer to the mineral.
Based on experience, the rocks that contain Quantainium are in groupsand not alone. So, if you scan a mineable resource and you realize it is a single rock, then it is unlikely to contain Quantainium. Moreover, you need to look for resources on top of mountains or around them.
Most Quantainium rocks are usually scattered around mountain feet, but there are also some of them on top of mountains or between multiple mountains inside a valley. Simply forget about the open and plain areas of Lyria and put your focus on the mountains.
to know if a source, which appears on your screen with a cube icon, has one rock or more than one, you need topress “V” to activate the scanner mode. Now, if you roll yourMouse Wheel, you canadjust the expansiveness of your scan. First, scan with 360 degreesto reveal all sources around yourself.
You need to be within 10 KM of Lyria’s surface to run a successful scan. Now that you can see all sources point crosshair towards one of them lower the scan rate to02 degreesand run another scan. Keep in mind that you should be within 10 KM of the resource to successfully run the second scan.
Now, the cube icon will change into a white shuriken icon(s). If it shows only one shuriken, it means the source is a single rock, and you should skip it. However,if the cube turns into multiple shurikens, you should go over them and scan the rocks asthere might be a Quantainium among them.
Keep in mind that even a rock with15% of Quantainiumis worth mining. However, you should consider its mass as well. If you are mining with a Prospector, you do need to upgrade your Mining Laser and add a pair of modules to it to overcome the resistance of the rocks and increase the laser power.
With a Helix-1 mining laser paired with the correct modules, you can mine rocks with up to12,000 mass. Sometimes the mining screen might tell you it’s impossible to mine arock with a size below 12,000, but you really need to try it out yourself, as the indicator on the screen could be wrong.
After extracting Quantainium, you need to deliver it to a refinery as soon as possible. Quantainium is an unstable material, and it gets wasted over time.If it fully wastes, it will explode, which destroys your ship and kills you as well. Once you store your ship inside the refinery station, the wasting timer will stop ticking.
You can use eitherDinyx or Ferron methodsto refine Quantainium. The former offers the highest yield at the lowest cost.
