The main missions ofSpider-Man 2will have a set character, as each mission is intended for either Peter or Miles. While free roaming, players are given much more freedom to explore New York as whichever Spider-Man they’d like.

Both characters have a different list of skills to learn and abilities to use, varying their play styles greatly. Throughout the game, each character will have their time to shine, with each having their moments as the strongest Spider-Man.

When Is It Best To Play As Peter
At the beginning of the game,Peter may feel a bit weaker than Miles,as Miles can turn invisible and use electricity-based abilities. Peter’s time to shine comes about halfway through the main storyafter obtaining the Symbiote.After obtaining the Symbiote, Peter will learn anew list of abilities that are much stronger than all of his Spider Arm abilities.
While the Symbiote suit does make Peter more powerful halfway through the game, hebecomes the stronger Spider-Man by far towards the end of the game after unlocking the Anti-Venom Suit.All of his Anti-Venom abilities willdeal extra damage to Symbiote enemies,which will take over New York for the next few story missions, makingfree roaming as Peter during this time much more efficientthan playing as Miles. Symbiote Nests are also difficult survival-style fights, with players facing a seemingly endless supply of Symbiote enemies.Taking on these nests should almost always be done by Peterto make the fight much more manageable.

When To Play As Miles
While Miles does get more powerful abilities in the game, hestarts off far stronger than Peterand has less noticeable growth throughout the game because of it. Miles is at his best early in the game before Peter gets the Symbiote, as hiselectricity-style attacks will not only damage enemies but also leave them stunned.Miles also has the benefit ofbeing able to turn invisible,making him the ideal character forstealth, such as quietly taking out Hunter Blinds and Bases.
Milesalso has his uniqueelectricity-based abilities, which do incredible amounts of damage to Sandman clones.For those trying to find andcomplete all of Marko’s Memories, use Milesand use AOE electricity abilitiessuch as Venom Smash or Chain Lighting.Miles has multiple useful abilities that will have him jumping around a fight andstaying very mobilewhile still dealing decent amounts of damage, making him the ideal choice for those looking for a more finesse style of combat.
