The PlayStation brand has several beloved franchises that haven’t been released in quite some time. However,Sonymay be looking to change that.

Games like Crash Bandicoot 4 and New Super Lucky’s Tale will fill the Astro Bot-shaped hole in your heart.

All of that may be changing, though. According to VGC’s Andy Robinson, he hinted that Sony is looking to bring back older PlayStation titles back from the dead. Before Robinson chimed in, the VGC Podcast crew talked aboutFat Princessas an older, smaller PlayStation IP that would fit the bill. Given today’s lengthy development cycle for big-budget blockbuster games, it makes sense for Sony to fill in the gaps between AAA game releases. Considering the breakout success ofAstro Bot, it’s a no-brainer to have a handful of smaller releases featuring beloved IPs rather than waiting five-plus years for Naughty Dog or Sucker Punch to release their next game.

What Dormant Franchises Could Sony Bring Back?

Sony is looking to bring back beloved IPs from its past, so the question becomes: Which franchises fit the mold of these “old, deep cut” franchises?

While older gamers may scoff at the notion that games likeSly CooperandJak & Daxterare deep cuts, they both were at their peak during the PlayStation 2 era. That was two decades ago, which means an entire generation of gamers have grown up without these games.
