Akira Yamaoka, the acclaimed composer that created the soundtrack for the original Silent Hill titles, is confirmed to be returning for this project. He stated in the stream that the remake is going to have a “new musical style”, with new tracks and sound design, that he hopes will please new and existing fans.

This reveal finally confirms rumors that had been circulating for a long time. It had been previously leaked by insider Jeff Grubb that Bloober Team was working on a Silent Hill 2 Remake. Then, the director of the upcoming Silent Hill movie, which was also revealed in today’s stream, unabashedlycorroborated the claimto a French outlet less than two weeks ago.

Lead Producer at Bloober Team, Maciej Glomb, said during the stream that he wants to ensure the team is keeping the “unique Silent Hill atmosphere intact,” and they are doing so by working closely with the original creators at Konami. Creative Director Mateusz Lenart went on to say that they want this remake to “make the same strong impression today that the original game did 21 years ago.” The developers repeatedly affirmed their wish to keep the spirit of the game intact, while modernizing certain aspects to match current player expectations.

An interesting tidbit that Konami producer Motoi Okamoto revealed is that Konami receives pitches for Silent Hill games “from teams around the world every year.” He claimed that Bloober Team’s developers were the “most passionate, and you can see the love they have for the game.” The stream also showed off several other announcements, such as a spinoff called Silent Hill: Townfall, an interactive streaming game called Silent Hill: Ascension, and Silent Hill F, a completely new story set in 1960s Japan.
