Developed by Rose-engine, Signalis was first released as a classic survival horror in October of last year. The game received positive reviews from players and media outlets, with praises for its atmospheric theme and stylish aesthetic. In Signalis, players take the role of Elster, a technician Replika who seeks her lost partner in a surreal retrotech world filled with secrets, puzzles, and bloodthirsty creatures. Set in a dystopian future where humanity colonized the solar system, androids also known as Replikas live among them as workers, servants, and citizens. It tells a science-fiction tale of identity and memory with fluid 3D animations and transparency effects.
In our game of the year 2022 round-up, we said Signalis' “exploration loop of checking every door, remembering item placements, combining items, and fighting (but usually running away from) spasmodic monsters understands what made those survival horror classics special.” The psychological horror game is available now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC.
