Taking players back to Sherlock’s roots presents some interesting options for Frogwares. Notably, Holmes is less world-weary and perhaps a bit more arrogant in his abilities.Chapter Oneis also of the few games in Frogwares' series to take the game out of London, giving them more freedom to build a world. For this go-around, Sherlock will travel back to the mysterious island he used to call home. In an interview withGamespot, the developers said “(their) goal is to show the events that will shape Sherlock as a great detective”, and the early footage points to just that.
We see Sherlock grieving over his mother’s grave at the start of the trailer. From there, the footage continues to give you the vibe that this will be a relatively dark game. It certainly looks to be a game that forces you to make tough decisions as move throughout its narrative.
LikeThe Sinking City,Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One’s world is much more open-ended than past Sherlock games. You’ll be able to move about the town, blend into crowds with different disguises, and even engage in the odd spat or two as you try to uncover the island’s mysteries.Chapter Onedefinitely looks like a game worth paying attention to.
Look forSherlock Holmes: Chapter Oneto release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X sometime in 2021.
