It doesn’t take long for Cillian Murphy’s interview moments to turn into hilarious memes which are often shared on the Internet when words fall short. I mean, why do you need to say anything when Cillian Murphy’s expressions can do it for you?

One such moment was from the show60 Minuteswhen host Scott Pelley told the actor about the time hisOppenheimerco-star called him the worst dinner companion imaginable. When the short clip was shown to otherOppenheimeractors, they couldn’t help but burst into laughter, especially Robert Downey Jr. who was literally on the floor.
When Cillian Murphy’s Expressions Sent Robert Downey Jr. into a Fit of Laughter
Before getting toRobert Downey Jr.rolling around on the floor, let’s take a look at whatMatt Damonhad to say aboutCillian Murphythat started this whole chain of events.

According to Damon, when Murphy is working on a project, he is so engrossed in it that he doesn’t have much space in his mind to focus on other activities, including dinner.
Pelley stated,

Matt Damon told me that ‘Cillian is the worst dinner companion imaginable.’ What he meant by that was when you’re working on a film — when you’re being the character — there’s very little room in your head for anything else.
When Downey Jr., Murphy, andEmily Bluntappeared for an episode ofJimmy Kimmel Live,Jimmy Kimmelshowed the trio the clip from the above-mentioned interview without any context.

Cillian Murphy Responds to Matt Damon
After Pelley told Murphy about Damon calling him the worst dinner guest possible, thePeaky Blindersactor surprisingly agreed to it all. He stated that he has always been this way.
Yeah, I mean, I’ve always been like that, I think. But it’s because, to me, you have the time on set, which is short enough time — you have 10 hours, maybe. And then the other part, if you’ve got a significant part, you’re having to keep your lines fresh.
And when Murphy was not busy rehearsing his lines and acting, he preferred spending his free time sleeping.
The other big thing for me is sleeping. I love sleeping and I need sleep. You just don’t have the room … in your head, and you want as much sleep as possible.
Stars…they are just like us!

If you’re concerned that Damon and Murphy didn’t get to enjoy some quality time together over a nice dinner, you can rest assured that they went out for many dinners after the shoot concluded.
Murphy stated,
I’ve had lots of lovely dinners with Matt Damon since the movie’s finished and we’ve been out promoting it and stuff.
Well, when you deliver a performance as good as the one that Murphy did as J. Robert Oppenheimer, you might not have the time or energy to focus your attention on socializing. We can’t blame Murphy for that!
