A new trailer forResident Evil Requiemwas shown atGamescom 2025, revealing the fate of a playable character from one of the spin-off games, as well as offering a glimpse at the new protagonist’s backstory.
Resident Evil Requiemstars Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from the Resident Evil Outbreak games. Set thirty years after the destruction of Raccoon City, Grace is now a member of the FBI and is set on the case of discovering her mother’s fate.

Gamescom 2025 featured a trailer for Resident Evil Requiem, which is now available on The Game Awards YouTube channel. This shows a flashback sequence, where Alyssa’s dark fate is revealed, following her escape from Raccoon City.
Resident Evil Requiem Reveals What Happened After Outbreak
In the new trailer, a younger version of Grace is shown at home when Alyssa (wearing her signature red outfit from Resident Evil Outbreak) enters the home. The two are being hunted by a mysterious black-robed individual, who kills one of their neighbors.
The trailer reveals that Grace is unaware of the events in Raccoon City and seemingly confirms that Alyssa was slain in front of her daughter. What’s most stunning, however, is the graphics on display, with some of the mostrealistic face models to date.

A recent leak claims that Resident Evil Requiem would feature both Leon Kennedy and Alyssa in playable sections, though the latter is only meant to be in it for a brief period of time. These rumors need to be taken with a grain of salt, but the trailer does suggest that Alyssa willhave a bigger role in the storythan originally anticipated, and won’t just be a distant memory.
It’s awesome to see Capcom referencing the spin-off games for a change, as most non-mainline Resident Evil titles are of dubious canon. Hopefully, Alyssa and the rest of the Outbreak cast will get the time in the spotlight that has been denied them for so long.
