A new multiplayer game titledResident Evil Re:VersewasrevealedatCapcom’s showcaseyesterday.

The game came as somewhat of a surprise announcement. I certainly wasn’t predicting a game like that to be announced.Re:Versewill be a brand new multiplayer experience that will be free to allResident Evil Villageplayers.

While theResident Evilseries has never taken itself too seriously, this new game definitely doesn’t either. In the game, players take control of some of the most popular characters from the series and pits them against each other. During the little amount of gameplay that was shown off, we saw Leon, Clair, and more characters from the series blasting each other inside of the Raccoon City Police Department. Players will even be able to take control of Nemesis and blast others with a rocket launcher.

Capcom confirmed that players will battle it out in four-to-six player deathmatches. Battles will take place in locations throughout the series, with the Raccoon City Police Department already being confirmed.

During the game, if a player dies, the game is not over for them yet. Players will respawn as a Bioweapon and are able to still battle against other players.

The reveal was definitely unexpected. These multiplayerResident Eviltitles have never seemed to stick with the fanbase. Just look at the like to dislike ratio for the trailer. However, it is a free title that comes bundled withVillage, so it could possibly provide some hours of mindless fun. Yet, I think many viewers werelooking for a different announcementyesterday.

During yesterday’s showcase, Capcom announced thatResident Evil: Villagewill be releasing on June 20, 2025. The game was already announced for PC,PS5, andXbox Series X|S. However, Capcom stated yesterday that the game will also be making its way to the PS4 and Xbox One as well. Ubisoft also made an appearance and revealed a crossover withThe Division 2and theResident EvilFranchise.
