The LA wildfires have been raging for the past few days and have already caused devastating damage. Among the estimated twenty-eight deaths is former child star and gamer Rory Sykes. The TV actor reportedly perished in the fires as stated by his mother Shelly Sykes, who used to manage his career.

Sykes became famous when he was featured in his mother’s British TV showKiddy Kapers. The actor is affected by blindness and cerebral palsy but grew up to be an avid gamer and philanthropist, working on several charities as a consultant.
Who is Rory Sykes?
According to his website, former TV actorRory Sykessuffered injuries while he was still in the womb of his mother, which resulted in him being born blind and developing cerebral palsy. Doctors reportedly told his mother that he would never see or walk due to injuries sustained during a car crash when he was still in the womb.
The Australian national, Sykes spent his childhood in the UK where he featured inKiddy Kapers, a reality TV show hosted by his mother Shelly Sykes. The show included studio fitness, art workshops, and field trips for kids. Sykes also had a short stint as a model before he quit being in front of the camera.

His website also mentioned that he had quit school when was fifteen to play RuneScape full-time. The site also mentioned that he underwent several surgeries and could see and walk partially. He also traveled to many places, including Antarctica’s Port Lockroy. He also reportedly cooked at several restaurants in the UK and Australia.
Sykes had been a consultant for multiple corporations such as Microsoft, ING, and the Cerebral Palsy Alliance. He also reportedly worked as a digital marketing advisor. He is best known for starting the charity organization Happy Charity.

The wildfires in L.A. have been raging since the beginning of the year and have already destroyed several acres of land. Fanned by the winds, the Palisades Fires have devastated the citizens and have caused a reported 28 casualties. One of those casualties was reportedly Rory Sykes, whose mother Shelly announced the incident.

Taking toX (formerly Twitter)to announce Sykes’ death, Shelly mentioned that she could not help him due to a broken arm and tried to call 9-1-1 but it was already too late. He was reported to have died due to carbon monoxide poisoning. The two were reportedly staying at their production studio.
Shelly Sykes, who ran the studio and also producedKiddy Kapers, stated in a post.

His mother Shelly Sykes also reportedly went on an Australian news channel (viaCBS News) to talk about the circumstances surrounding her son’s death. Apart from claiming that he died of carbon monoxide poisoning, she also mentioned that he was in a separate cottage while she stayed at the main estate and hence could not help him. She said,

Rory’s feet with the heat had started to swell, and he couldn’t walk very well. And he also had problems with his tummy. So he didn’t want to be far away from the bathroom. So he said, ‘Mum, you go, I’m staying’…I am just devastated, it is unreal at the moment. I cannot breathe…I’ve got a broken arm. I couldn’t lift him. I couldn’t move him.
At the time of his death, Rory Sykes was not accounted for in the death toll due to the fires.
