Having worked on the likes ofThe WitchandThe Lighthouse,Robert Eggers is no stranger to making critically acclaimed flicks that leave fans yearning for more (and with a lot to introspect).Nosferatuwas no different.

The Lily-Rose Depp starrer was one of the better films that hit the theatres last year, going on to give fans a chilly reminder of the OGNosferatuthat was released in 1922. The movie fared decently well, going on to rake in a 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. And it is back in the news. But for all the wrong reasons.
Nosferatuleft fans shivering (and intrigued)
Nosferatuwas a reimagination of the 1922 silent film that told the story of Count Dracula. And while there have been minor modifications in the 2024 flick, its heart remains the same. StarringBill Skarsgårdas the main man, (well, not technically) Count Orlok, andLily-Rose Deppas his victim, the film managed to strike the right chords with many folks.
The likes of Nicholas Hoult, Willem Dafoe and Emma Corrin also make their contribution felt on the story, with each character having their own influence on the story. But a person who will receive a lot of credit for getting things right (and the criticism for making the story too slow as well from some quarters) is director Robert Eggers.

The Northmandirector has done a marvelous job to give a modern twist to the story, turning it into a flick that might be remembered for ages. The fact that it managed to make $156 million on a $50 million budget is a testament to that fact.
Given the love it had received, it wasn’t a shocker that the release of an extended cut was announced. With the digital release scheduled for 21st January, and 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD to follow on February 18, the hype was high. But it didn’t go as planned.

Fans callNosferatuextended cut a scam
Nosferatuextended cut is here. And so is the unreal disappointment. Releasing extended cuts are often categorized as one of the smartest moves that can be made. But it can backfire if the filmmakers act smart.
The 2024 flick might share the same fate for an outrageous move – adding only 4 minutes to the extended cut. you’re able to’t fault the fans for that.

Willem Dafoe: “He went for a much more folk-based vampire” on Why ‘Nosferatu’ Didn’t Feature Lusty, Suave Bloodsuckers That Hollywood Popularized
Anyone who has seen theSnyder Cutknows what extended cuts can really do (and how important they are to the fans). Needless to say they are one of the best ways to take up added bucks. And this greed is what got the better of the people at the helm ofNosferatu.

Fans have torn into the production team for the basest of marketing gimmicks.
4 minutes? Probably wont even notice the difference
you’re joking 😭😭😭😭

Lmaaaao 4 minutes extra is not worth calling it an extended cut, they’re just tryna milk it at that point frr
A Mind-Boggling Fact About President Jimmy Carter’s Life That Ties It to Lily-Rose Depp’s ‘Nosferatu’
Apart from the four minutes added to the movie itself, fans will also get access to some exclusive footages about the making of the movie, and an audio-video commentary by the director himself. None of that changes the fact that the fans feel tricked.
