Director Rose Glass, also chatted with the magazine, revealing that before they even roll the cameras, the actors and intimacy coordinators have a sit-down to hash out what they’re cool with and exactly what’s gonna happen in the scene.They even have these detailed contracts about who’s showing what and from which angle.
But once the cameras start rolling, it’s all about the technical stuff, angles, mics, and choreography. Glass joked that sometimes they’re more worried about the cameras falling than the steamy action on screen.
She even mentioned one scene shot in a tiny bathroom that had the cameraman’s arms ready to drop. She revealed,
“[The] poor [camera operator] was just standing there probably with his arms about to fall off. Even though he’s got these beautiful women making out and ‘having s*x’ in front of him, he’s like, ‘No, please make them stop. My arms hurt.”
However, behind the scenes, it’s not just about the technical stuff. There’s a real emotional toll that comes with filming intimate scenes, for the crew as well as the actors. But hey, at least the outcome was peak Stewart.
