Sonyhas confirmed that its loyalty programPlayStationStars will be returning “in phased regional rollouts,” after being offline for almost a month.
PlayStation Stars was first launched in September 2022 in Asia, before being rolled out to the rest of the world in October. The loyalty program allows PlayStation users to earn rewards by completing a variety of campaigns and activities, such as tasking players with earning specific trophies or being one of the first players to platinum a certain title. While many of the rewards are merely cosmetic, players do have the ability to earn points that can be transferred into PlayStation Wallet funds.

PlayStation’s loyalty program has grown to become incredibly popular among the community, which is why PlayStation users were left baffled when the service suddenly went offline last month. Despite now being offline for longer than the great PSN outage of 2011, Sony hasn’t actually acknowledged why the program has been down for so long. But after setting a record, the official PlayStation Stars website now states that the loyalty program will finally be returning shortly.
“PlayStation Stars will be returning soon in phased regional rollouts. Thank you for your patience and we look forward to welcoming you back,” Sony said on the PlayStation Stars website. Unfortunately, there’s no way to know how long it will take for the program to roll out globally. But some users are reporting that it’s alreadyback online in Asia.
Sony also experienced another short outage earlier this week, as the whole of the PlayStation Network was temporarily unavailable for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users. The service went down at around 9:30AM CT on July 1st, according toGameRant, before returning a few hours later.
Xbox thought it would get in on the action yesterday evening too, with Xbox Live going down for several hours. The outage not only prevented users from playing online titles, butsome even reportedthat they were unable to use their discs whilst the network was offline.
Both Xbox and PlayStation services are back online, but neither company stated what the cause of the outages was.
