When the December lineup of games for PlayStation Plus was leaked a few days ago, fans were overjoyed with the three titles joining the service. But, things soon took a turn when Sony confirmed that although the leak was correct, one of the titles was in fact essentially a trial version and not the full game.

For those that aren’t aware, PlayStation Plus is a paid subscription service that not only allows you to play your favourite online games but also gives you access to a large catalogue of new titles each month.

The service is incredibly popular among PlayStation owners and unlike Xbox Game Pass, the games are yours to keep for as long as your subscription is active.

Now, not every month is a certified banger, but there’s usually something for everyone. During the course of 2021, we’ve seen huge titles such asHitman 2, Black Ops 4, Battlefield V, Days Gone, and more join the service. And although December was shaping up to be another good month of ‘free’ games, it’s quickly turned sour.

PlayStation Plus Users Left Infuriated By December Games

The games that are coming to PlayStation Plus in December areGodfall: Challenger Edition, Lego DC Super-Villains,andMortal Shell. To the untrained eye, a solid set of games to end the year.

However, what many fans may not realise is that the ‘Challenger Edition’ ofGodfalljoining PlayStation Plus is basically just a trial version. Instead of giving fans the full game, Sony decided to create a new version that doesn’t even include a story. As you can imagine, this hasn’t gone down well with fans.

You only need to scroll down the announcement tweet to see repeated ‘what a joke’ comments, as well as fans also pointing out thatMortal Shellhas a PlayStation 5 version that also could have been included, instead of just the PlayStation 4 version.

So, what exactly do you get with the Challenger Edition? Well, according to the PlayStation website, there’s no story content or expansions included and simply includes three endgame modes. But don’t worry, you can upgrade to the Deluxe Edition at any point in time! Thanks, Sony!

OneReddit usereven went as far as to say that what Sony is doing “should not be legal”. The user said that creating a brand new edition of the game with cut content is “sketchy as hell”. It doesn’t stop there either, simply scroll down the/r/PlayStationPlus subredditto see the outrage by fans.
