Thanks to the success ofÂPersona 5and its recently-released enhanced edition,ÂPersona 5 Royal, the long-running JRPG series has seen tremendous success around the world. This is especially the case in the West, as the series has continued to grow in popularity from its Japanese roots and found an audience in other parts of the world, which in turn has translated to impressive new sales milestones for the series so far.Atlus has revealedthatÂPersona 5 Royal’s worldwide sales have officially reached over 1.4 million copies sold since it was first released in Japan in October 2019, followed by its Western launch this past March. Additionally, Atlus also highlighted that the series' total lifetime sales to date have reached over 13 million copies sold around the world.To commemorate the sales milestone, Atlus released a special piece ofÂPersona 5Âartwork on their Twitter account that you can find below:
AlongsideÂPersona 5 Royal’s sales, additionally Atlus detailed thatÂPersona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers–the series' first action RPG–has surpassed 480,000 copies sold in Japan and Asia, while the recently-releasedPC version ofÂPersona 4 Goldenhas reached over 500,000 copies sold through Steam worldwide. At the moment,ÂPersona 5 Scramblehasn’t had a Western release announcement just yet, but hopefully we won’t have to wait too much longer to see when the action-based title will make its way to the US, Europe, and other Western markets.
As someone that recently came to theÂPersonaÂseries several years ago, it’s impressive to see how much the series' popularity has grown this generation and gained wider attention. As one of the best RPGs released in this generation, it’s no surprise thatÂPersona 5 Royalhas managed to garner acclaim from around the world, and hopefully we’ll get to see even more from the series for its fans worldwide.
