US-based indie publisherSerenity Forgehas revealed upcomingphysical editionsof its open-world whodunnit title, Paradise Killer, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One.Developed by Kaizen Game Works, Paradise Killer was first released digitally on all the aforementioned consoles in March of last year, nearly two years after its launch on the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. There are no plans for physical Nintendo Switch or PC versions of the game at the time of writing.Two different physical editions of Paradise Killer are in the works, as listed on theSerenity Forge web store. One, concisely titledParadise Killer - Physical Edition, will include a lenticular art card, a soundtrack download card and code, a sheet of vinyl stickers, and the base game for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X and Xbox One. It is priced at 39.99USD and is expected to ship in Q3 this year.

The second physical edition, titledParadise Killer - Collector’s Edition, is comparatively much larger, including all the items comprising the Paradise Killer - Physical Edition, as well as the added bonuses of a padded mousepad featuring character Crimson Acid, an acrylic charm of character Shinji, five character standees, and a sizable collector’s edition box showcasing an exclusive illustration. Priced at 89.99USD, the Collector’s Edition is also expected to ship this coming Q3.

Described on the Serenity Forge website as “a free form, open-world first-person exploration investigation game,” Paradise Killer puts players in the position of lead detective Lady Love Dies. Recently freed from her three million days-long exile, Love Dies — and by extension, the player — is tasked with solving a murder on an island of unique reality: the rather aptly named Paradise Island.

Paradise Killer draws inspiration from itsDanganronpancontemporaries while simultaneously elaborating on Lovecraftian and Kafkan themes. Aliens, otherworldly beings, and old gods abound in this open-world adventure — ditto all the investigative, evidence-hunting, alibi-questioning action so instrumental to the detective genre. Since its initial 2020 release, Paradise Killer has receivedpraise from criticsfor its investigation mechanics, vaporwave visuals, and engaging detectivery.
