Out of all those opponents, the one that might prove himself to be the biggest threat will surely be Akainu, the current Fleet Admiral of the Navy inOne Piece.
Akainu has been posed as one of the most significant villains inOne Piece, whose belief in Absolute Justice makes him an absolute menace. He is strictly against the world of pirates and is willing to go to any lengths to free the world from their tyranny. In fact, this is one of the main reasons why he had already been given the tag of aOne Pieceantagonist.
While Akainu’s threat is certainly dangerous for Luffy, Eiichiro Oda has managed to save him from the final war with a neat trick that fans might not have noticed. This way, when he finally makes an appearance in the central narrative, his impact on theOne Piecestoryline will be tenfold.
Akainu got nerfed by Eiichiro Oda
When Akainu was first introduced inOne Piece, he was portrayed as a threatening Admiral who was a believer in Absolute Justice and did not tolerate pirates in any way. Not only that, he also followed all the orders of the World Government no matter how heinous they were.

Thus, although he started doubting the World Government’s orders, he couldn’t do anything about it. Also, he couldn’t completely follow his policy of Absolute Justice because in doing so, he might disrupt the name of the World Government inOne Piece. This way, Oda managed to nerf Akainu and control him for a better part of the story, where he might pose as the most dangerous villain inOne Piece’shistory.

As mentioned above, Akainu has been completely nerfed byEiichiro Oda, and he has no option left aside from observing everything from the corner. While he is commanding the Navy in his own way, the orders they are following come from characters sitting above him. Thus, all of this has become incredibly frustrating for himas a significantOne Piececharacter.
Plus, the havoc that pirates like Luffy, Kidd, and Blackbeard have caused inOne Pieceis also questioning his authority as a Fleet Admiral. This is why it looks like he might soon break free from all the authorities and commitments and decide to wreak havoc on the pirate world. This would also fit perfectly with his character’s personality and his belief in Absolute Justice.
