With the end of one of the biggest manga and anime series of all time—One Piece— approaching slowly, fans are worried about the fate of the series’ protagonists, the Straw Hat Pirates. While it is confirmed that they will be the ones to find theOne Piecetreasure considering they are the main characters, what will happen after Luffy becomes Pirate King?
Right now, only Eiichiro Oda knows the answer to this question. But the one thing that is destined to happen with the Straw Hat Crew is that they will eventually die, bringing an end to their legacy. But even then, there is one character from the crew whose future is uncertain even after the death of the entire crew.
This character is none other than Brook, the musician of the Straw Hat Pirates and the second swordsman in the crew. The reason behind Brook’s uncertain future is his Devil Fruit abilities, which allowed him to come back from the dead once. He never ages, he doesn’t need sustenance, and he cannot be killed. Therefore, he might have the saddest fate written for him.
The Unusual Powers of Brook’s Devil Fruit
When Brook was a member of the Rumbar Pirates, he ate the Yomi Yomi no Mi, which is also called the Revive Revive Fruit. This Devil Fruit allowed Brook’s soul to enhance to the point where he was able to come back from the dead only once and get back to his body, which was reduced to a skeleton with an afro.

This helped Brook perform activities that were difficult for the human flesh. Also, he doesn’t require any nutrients except the occasional milk to build the calcium strength of his bones. Additionally, even if his skeletal structure gets broken, he can use his soul to pull them back and become whole once again.
He can also completely detach his soul from the body and use it however he likes. He can phase through walls, float in the air, etc. His Devil Fruit is one of the most unique powers, but the drawback is that if he dies for the second time, he won’t be able to come back.
Brook’s Sad Fate After the Death of the Straw Hat Pirates
Brook joined the Straw Hat Pirates during the Thriller Bark arc, and ever since then, he has been a prominent member of the crew. His individual goal is to reunite with Laboon once again, who is waiting for the Rumbar Pirates on the Reverse Mountain. Thus, after the Straw Hat Pirates find theOne Piecetreasure, they will helpBrook reunite with his old friend.
However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that he will leave the crew. The only thing right now that can sever the bond between the crew is death, which will eventually come for every member except for Brook. Thus, he will have to live with the pain of all his friends dying andleaving him behind all alone.

Therefore, there is a chance that after the death of the Straw Hat Pirates, Brook might give up his own life and leave theOne Pieceworld once and for all. This will make his character arcs one of the saddest narratives in the history ofOne Piece.But knowingEiichiro Oda, he most certainly will have a plan for bringing a better ending for Brook’s character.
