If Dominic Toretto is the first person who comes to your mind after hearing the word “family”, then either you’ve spent too much time on the internet or you’re simply a fan of theFast & Furiousseries. Either way, you’ll forget Vin Diesel’s obsession with family with this one scene in Yuki Tabata’sBlack Clover.

Tabata’s storytelling style might be a bit simplistic, but he makes great use of his characters. They shine both individually and as members of their respective squads. While other squads can get overly competitive at times, the members of Black Bull treat each other like family. It’s great to see them standing up for each other.
The Black Bulls’ Protectiveness of Noelle Was Endearing inBlack Clover
While there are many instances throughoutBlack Cloverwhere the close bond between the members shines, one particular scene with Noelle takes the cake for being an absolute delight. In ananime canon episodeof the series, Fanzell approaches Noelle. The girl gets alarmed by Fanzell’s disheveled appearance and rushes back to the Black Bulls. All of them instantly stand up for her, ready to fight.
Noelle hides behind Yami, while the others glare daggers at Fanzell. Considering Noelle’s past and how her real family treated her, this moment becomes even more important. Even characters like Charmy, who are usually in the backseat get enraged for Noelle’s sake. Fans loved the scene as it showcased the heartwarming dynamics between the characters, especially Yami’s protective attitude.

This scene can easily give competition toVin Diesel’s relationship with the other characters in theFast & Furiousseries. It’s always the family he has found in his friends that helps him in difficult situations. Similarly, the Black Bulls are always there for each other in times of need. While the Noelle situation is definitely lovely, there were other moments when the bond between the Black Bulls became more than apparent.
The time when Asta lost his hands, Vanessa and the others were ready to risk their lives to help him recover. Yami stood up for his squad and believed in them while others simply saw them as outcasts who were up to no good. Finral’s relationship with Langris had always been rocky. His face-off with Langris was emotionally taxing. And the Black Bulls were right there to make it easier for him.

All these instances are perfect examples of howYuki Tabataexplores the themes of friendship in his series. The characters don’t simply do things for each other but rather create a safe space, one that nurtures them and allows them to relax.
And the Credit Goes to Yami…
All Black Bulls are equally nice and step in for each other, but Yami deserves the credit for creating this space for them. Yami usually has a laid-back attitude towards most things. However, he has immense trust in his squad. If someone hurts them, he instantly gets serious which is far from his usual behavior.

He also treats them as equals as we see him asking Asta to fight alongside him on numerous occasions. With his welcoming and accepting persona, he has given the young members a space to truly be themselves. From day one to the recent chapters of the manga, the Black Bulls have stuck by each other’s side and a huge part of the credit goes to Yami.
