A secondary job affects the stats of the character along with bringing in more skills and abilities. This also alters the character’s appearance to fit the secondary job. These other jobs can be unlocked or earned from tasks or seeking out various shrines. There are eight base jobs along with four secret jobs that can be accessed all around the map. Using the skills and abilities that follow along with a second job, they can be used to fill holes that a character with their base job hadn’t covered. Along with this, generally raising their highest stat or lowest to become a stronger overall character can be achieved.

Best Abilities & Secondary Job
Each character has their own talent and latent power that’s unique to them. These range in abilities and effects, yet give good boosts in battle. Skills play into their job, receiving boosts based on their occupation. Skills will be themed around the job. Talents are unique and can provide a variety of boosts and abilities. From powerful moves, to healing, to crafting, talents are useful no matter the job or play style. Latent powers have a gauge that’s connected to them, only being able to be unleashed once it has been filled. The gauge fills from receiving damage, or when enemies or defeated in battle. These can give your team the upper hand when things get tough. All of these things affect how a character is in battle.
Osvald’s talent is ‘Study Foe’. As the name insinuates, Osvald will study the foe in front of him in battle. This will give helpful insight, revealing the opponent’s weakness at the start of the battle. This can multiply, as the second time Osvald encounters an enemy, another weak point will be revealed. Whichever weakness is to be revealed will be chosen at random. For each time an enemy is present in battle, a weakness of that enemy will be revealed. This means if there were to be two of the same enemy, a weakness is revealed of that enemy twice.

His latent power is ‘Concentrate Spells’. Using this power, Osvald will focus a spell on one specific enemy. The power of the spell increases to compensate for the lack of range. This can be used to take out a specific enemy that’s difficult.
Osvald starts out as a scholar. He can only use staves because of this job. All of his skills inherited from being a scholar take SP and need a staff to operate. Using weaponry such asthe Psychic Staffcould prove useful with Osvald, due to his limited weaponry. His skills are all magical with no physical moves. Some are status effects that can reveal things such as enemie’s HP and a variety of different effects.

The best secondary job for Osvald is to be an Arcanist. Being an Arcanist is one of the four secret jobs. To become an Arcanist, speak to the Arcanist Descendant. Speaking to the Arcanist Descendant will give you the Proof of the Arcanist, the item needed to get the Arcanist secondary job. This job covers a lot of magical elements and allows Osvald to carry daggers. The skills of an Arcanist are also magical, making the Arcanist job not stray far from what Osvald would have to do in his normal job.
It adds a lot of good status effects and SP restoring moves. Being able to restore that SP is crucial for Osvald, needing that SP for essentially every move he can use. If Osvald were to wield a dagger, using theLost Tribe’s Daggerwould be a good option for him to yield. It’s very powerful and fits the job of Arcanist well. Though, using a staff will utilize most of his primary skills.
